Coventry CT Republican Town Committee

Coventry CT Republican Town Committee The Coventry RTC is a grassroots organization led by concerned citizens. Paid for by the Coventry Republican Town Committee, Matthew O’Brien Sr, Treasurer

Our principles are guided by the conviction that less taxation and regulation on individuals and businesses, smaller and more efficient government and protection of individual rights and family values lead to prosperity and a higher quality of life. We believe that the role of government at any level is to implement the will of the people, and that we are the guardians of a rich cultural and constitutional heritage.

On June 2nd, Coventry residents have an important decision to make.

Many families, seniors, and local taxpayers are already feeling the pressure of rising costs. This proposed budget includes:

• Town Budget Spending Increase: 4.63%
• Board of Education Spending Increase: 4.23%
• Capital Budget Spending Increase: 75.04%

We can support our schools, town services, and community while also being mindful of the financial burden placed on our neighbors. We proposed a 3% spending increase but that was not approved.

Please take a few minutes to make your voice heard.

VOTE June 2nd at the Coventry Firehouse, 1755 Main Street.

A thoughtful “NO” vote encourages a more balanced and sustainable budget for everyone in our community.

Memorial Day traces its roots back to the years following the Civil War, when Americans gathered to honor fallen soldiers who never made it home. In 1868, General John A. Logan helped establish a national day of remembrance for those who gave their lives in service to our country.

The freedoms we enjoy today, including the ability to speak freely, vote, gather, and openly share differing opinions, exist because brave men and women fought to defend those rights, many making the ultimate sacrifice.

Today, Coventry remembers and honors those heroes and the legacy they left behind. 🇺🇸

FROM THE WINY RADIO NEWSROOM: Doctor Senator Jeff Gordon Unanimously Endorsed at State Convention; Campaign Clears SEEC’s Rigorous Pre‑Qualification Review for the Citizens’ Election Program

At last night's state senate convention, dozens of delegates hailing from all thirteen towns delivered a unanimous endorsement for Senator Jeff Gordon, marking a decisive show of confidence in his candidacy for re-election and leadership with experience as the current State Senator for the 35th District. The endorsement follows a strong evening of support from across the party and affirms Gordon’s standing heading into the next phase of the campaign.

In addition to the unanimous convention endorsement, the Gordon campaign has successfully passed the Connecticut State Elections Enforcement Commission’s (SEEC) rigorous pre‑qualification screening for participation in the Citizens’ Election Program (CEP). This review is one of the most demanding compliance checks in Connecticut politics, ensuring that campaigns meet strict standards for documentation, contribution verification, and financial transparency.

“Tonight’s endorsement and the SEEC’s pre‑qualification determination reflect the strength, integrity, and discipline of this re-election campaign,” Sen. Gordon stated. "I am grateful for the trust placed in me and ready to continue building a broad, community‑driven effort across northeast Connecticut. Campaigns aren't about money and filing deadlines, of course. It is about continuing to spend time with the people I serve, as I have for the past four years, listening to their concerns and staying present in every town and community. That’s how we continue shaping policy that reflects real‑world needs rather than abstract theories and speeches. Throughout my time in the legislature, I’ve focused on practical, bipartisan, common sense solutions: addressing affordability concerns, defending individual and parental rights, supporting medical freedoms, strengthening rural healthcare access, improving public safety, supporting public education, helping small businesses, protecting taxpayers, and delivering critical state funds to Eastern Connecticut communities. My priorities remain the same, and my commitment is to keep delivering results that make life better for hard-working people, their families, seniors, veterans, job-creating small businesses, and local communities across our region. I will continue to work for the people of the 35th Senate District. That remains my #1 focus.”
WINY Editor's Note: Ethan Werstler is the Democrat-endorsed candidate for this seat

Supported through the CT Grown for CT Kids Grant and the CT Fresh Ed Buy Local Program, the event featured a delicious menu of locally sourced foods including beef, potatoes, salad greens, carrots, honey, maple syrup, lemonade, and dinner rolls.

The evening welcomed local farm partners from Long Meadow Farm, Forest Mill Farm, Handel Family Farm, Cloverleigh Farm, and Cobblestone Farm, along with Senator Jeff Gordon, members of the Coventry Town Council, Coventry Public Schools leadership, and Board of Education representatives.
