Troop 61 Storrs Mansfield, CT Troop 61 is a member of the Nipmuck District, Connecticut Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

We are sponsored by the Eagleville Fire Department, which has actively chartered our unit since our inception in August 2003. Troop 61 is also a nationally recognized Quality Unit, and has been virtually since our inception in August 2003. Our first opportunity to achieve this recognition came in February 2004, and we have achieved this prestigious award each year since. The significance of this a

ward has many facets, the most significant of which is that our Troop follows and achieves nationally recommended BSA guidelines for conducting our meetings, adult and junior leader training, advancement practices and our promotion of the “outdoor program”. We are extremely proud of our achievements and each Scout proudly displays the current years Quality Unit patch on their uniform. This award, in a nutshell, is the National BSA Councils “Good Housekeeping” seal of approval for scouting units. Scouting is an adventure based on challenge, leadership training and experience. In Troop 61, we hold as many of our activities outdoors as possible. Most years we hold at least ten campouts, in addition to our annual summer camp outing and another high adventure experience for our older Scouts.
