'The reality is that shelters didn't create the problems they're facing. They respond to them.

Animal lovers with well-meaning intentions will often say things like:
๐ "I would never support a '๐๐๐๐ ๐ค๐๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ฃ'."
๐ "I would never volunteer at a '๐๐๐๐ ๐ค๐๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ฃ'."
๐ "Why would I donate to a '๐๐๐๐ ๐ค๐๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ฃ'?"
These statements usually come from a place of compassion. People don't want animals to die, and neither do the people working inside those shelters. ๐ญ But this harmful ๐๐๐๐๐ oversimplifies an incredibly complex issue and ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ง๐ข๐ช๐ณ๐ญ๐บ ๐ฑ๐ญ๐ข๐ค๐ฆ๐ด ๐ฃ๐ญ๐ข๐ฎ๐ฆ on the very organizations that are often carrying the heaviest burden.

Animal welfare isn't the responsibility of shelters alone. It's a responsibility we all share. โค๏ธ๐พ
