Today was a very special day for our Legion Riders. We were invited to attend an honor ceremony for 3 veterans at the Pruitt Health Medical Center. It was put on by Veterans Last Patrol out of Spartanburg, SC. It was a day to honor and remember the 3 for their service to our country. We had 9 Conway riders and 2 Riders from Little River. It was a wonderful ceremony.
VETERAN HONOR CEREMONY

Join us in honoring the service of Navy Veteran Nick Pierce and Army Veteran Danny Johnson Sr. and Army National Guard Veteran Ernest Richardson, who are currently in hospice care at PruittHealth in Conway, SC. This facility cares for senior-citizen veterans of different branches of military service. We will show these special veterans that we respect and honor their military service and that our country owes them everlasting gratitude.
NICK PIERCE
Nick served in the Navy from 1960 to 1969 aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise Destroyer. Subsequently, he was a member of the Coast Guard Reserves from 1970 to 1985, serving with Company A 90 in Great Lakes, Illinois, where he attained the rank of Seaman First Class.
After his military service, Nick retired from the United States Postal Service and later pursued a career as a minister in Virginia. He cherished his time at the beach, enjoyed the company of his wife, JoAnn, and valued every moment spent with his children and grandchildren.
Nick and JoAnn were married for 50 years until her untimely passing. Together, they raised a daughter and a son and were blessed with three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
DANNY JOHNSON, SR.
Danny was born in March 1949 in Marion, South Carolina. He honorably served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4).
Following his military service, he devoted 31 years to the Myrtle Beach Fire Department. He is happily married and is the proud father of a son.
ERNEST L. RICHARDSON
Ernest was born in May 1931 in Britton’s Neck, South Carolina. He served in the South Carolina Army National Guard from 1952 to 1955, where he was assigned to the 296th Service Battalion in Hemingway, SC, focusing on Radio Communications. He achieved the rank of Private First Class during his service.
After completing his military service, Ernest transitioned to a career in farming and later served as a supervisor at Wellman Industries in Johnsonville, SC. He had a passion for gardening and enjoyed traveling to the mountains.
Ernest was married to his lovely wife, Virginia, for 47 years until her passing. Together, they raised four children, one of whom also served in the South Carolina National Guard. The couple was blessed with five grandchildren, including a granddaughter who served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Enterprise and a grandson who graduated from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. Additionally, they have nine great-grandchildren, with one great-grandson currently serving in the Georgia Army National Guard Reserves.
