🏛️ How did Conroe become the county seat?

The story of how Montgomery County’s courthouse came to Conroe in 1889 is one of the fascinating—and often under-told—chapters of our local history.

Join the Montgomery County Genealogical & Historical Society for our September meeting featuring Larry Foerster, Chair of the Montgomery County Historical Commission and author of the Montgomery County, Texas Historical Timeline. Larry will take us back to the people, places, and events behind the move from Montgomery to Conroe, illustrated with historic photographs and research from his work exploring Montgomery County’s past.

If you’ve ever wondered how Conroe became the county seat, come hear the story behind the courthouse!

📅 Join us for our September General Meeting—we’d love to see you there!
