⚠️ STOP. VERIFY. REPORT. ⚠️
🚨 SCAM ALERT: JURY DUTY SCAMS ON THE RISE! 🚨
The Conroe Police Department has become increasingly concerned about the number of calls we are receiving regarding jury duty scams. We want to make sure our community is aware of these scams and knows how to protect themselves.
Scammers are contacting residents by phone, text, or email, pretending to be law enforcement officers. They claim you have missed jury duty and that a warrant has been issued for your arrest. They may even provide fake badge numbers, use real officers' names, or make their phone number appear to be from a legitimate law enforcement agency.
The scammer will then demand immediate payment to avoid arrest, often requesting gift cards, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency.
⚠️ PLEASE REMEMBER:
🔴Law enforcement will NEVER demand payment over the phone to avoid arrest for missing jury duty.
🔴Legitimate jury summonses are sent through the U.S. Mail.
🔴Never provide personal or financial information to someone you do not know.
🔴Do not trust caller ID. Scammers can make their calls appear to come from legitimate government phone numbers.
If you receive one of these calls, HANG UP! Do not send money or provide any personal information. If you are unsure whether a call is legitimate, contact the agency directly using a verified phone number.
Please share this warning with your friends, family, and neighbors, especially elderly residents who may be targeted by these scammers.
