Shift 3 Commerce FD dispatched to a residential structure fire. Crews arrived to find a working fire. Interior crews located fire and extinguished within five minutes. Property saved with minimal damage.

Today, our department responded alongside numerous regional partners to assist with the active shooter incident at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield.

Our hearts are with the members of the congregation, their families, and everyone impacted by this terrifying event. No one should ever have to face violence in a place of worship or education.

We also want to recognize the incredible response from law enforcement, fire, EMS, and emergency management agencies across the region. Seeing so many departments come together so quickly in support of one another and in protection of our communities was both humbling and powerful.

Hate and violence have no place in our communities. What does belong here is compassion, unity, and the shared commitment to care for and protect one another.

Please keep the victims, their families, and the entire congregation in your thoughts.

Special recognition to several of our members this week:

FF/EMT Felix Gollinger, FF/EMT John Garofalo and FF/EMT Juan Santiago have all passed their probationary period and are now officially sworn in Firefighters.

We'd like to express our thanks to West Bloomfield FD for helping us with the transition from BLS to ALS.

Today is a special day for the Commerce Twp Fire Department and the residents. Station One has officially upgraded to Advanced Life Support. So much hard work has gone into this achievement. All four Commerce Fire stations are providing ALS services.

Last night, members from both the Highland Township and Commerce Township Fire Departments came together to present Firefighter Allexa Leece with a check from the funds raised during our September charity golf outing. We hope these proceeds offer support as Firefighter Leece continues dialysis and awaits a kidney transplant. In the fire service, we stand as a family — always taking care of our own.
