Wow! The Boys and Girls Club of Comfort started off Summer with a bang here at Roberts Ranch! ☀️

Over 70 participants stayed active with hands-on and engaging activities like mammal discovery, watershed demonstrations, archery, hiking, nature photography and more! Of course, we can’t forget about the delicious meal we all shared together. 🙏🏼

This week Davis-Scott Family YMCA teens learned a little about local watersheds like the San Antonio River Basin and the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone. 💧

Water supplies, animal habitat, and recreation are all dependent on healthy watersheds, but they can be negatively impacted by various forms of pollution, including runoff and erosion. After conversations and a watershed model activity, we learned how plants onsite at the DS native plant garden can support healthy watersheds and local wildlife. We finished the day off by creating garden signs identifying each of these vital plants.

Before dismissing for break, Roberts Ranch activities and learning were brought to this YMCA afterschool site on the southeast side of San Antonio, ensuring a memorable finish to the school year for these bright minds.

Roberts Ranch brought wildlife education out to San Antonio for the first ever ¡Viva Bosque! This family-friendly fiesta event celebrated trees, birds, and everything in between at the ! 🪅 🌱

Children and families participated in a hands-on educational activity used to teach about biological adaptations and how a bird’s beak shape determines the food it can eat. By using common household tools to represent different beaks, participants “foraged” for various food items.

Majesty Outdoors participated in their first ever visit to Roberts Ranch!

Staff and leaders encouraged intentional and active engagement while in nature. These types of experiences help build confidence, character, and purpose.
