Hellen's Children Hellen's Children was originally started by Hellen Meyer and a group of golfing friends to help meet the needs of families in our community.

Hellen's Children was originally started by Hellen Meyer and a group of golfing friends, who had been instrumental to funding Comfort Table since 2001. In 2009 children started receiving clothing including a top, jeans, shoes, socks, underwear and a toy. Sometimes upon request and funds allowed sweaters, coats along with gift cards were provided for the older siblings or families as well. The goal

was to spend $50 per child / gift card. Through the years the number of children provided by Comfort Elementary has varied from a low of 50 to about 100. Hellen's 28 and one half years experience as a Kindergarten and First Grade teacher for economically and socially deprived children showed her the need for the clothing in addition to food. It is very important to Hellen that children have something to unwrap at Christmas and to have a toy to unwrap makes it a bit more special. It is important to us here at Immanuel Lutheran Church to continue the tradition and take care of our community. We work anonymously trough our local school district. We are willing to help as much as we can, neighboring communtities included if contacted by Nov 30th of each year.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much,

Our hearts are full of gratitude for all of the shoppers who were so generous with their time and talents and the Blue Santa's of Kendall County Sheriffs Office Foundation for their generous donations of toys, bikes and electronics for the children.

Next up: prepping/sorting/packaging for delivery with help from Comfort ISD FCCLA on December 12. Many hands make light loads!
