One of the interesting things about Aspen Miller is that she seems equally comfortable in a college business classroom and under the pressure of the biggest breakaway roping stage in the world.
Hailing from Santa Fe, Texas, Miller joined the WPRA in 2022 and has quickly established herself as one of the sport's rising stars. While pursuing a degree in business administration at Sam Houston State University, she's also been building an impressive rodeo résumé—one fast run at a time.
Her breakout moment came in 2025 when she qualified for her first Wrangler National Finals Breakaway Roping. And when the spotlight was brightest, Miller delivered. In the eighth round, she stopped the clock in a blazing 1.9 seconds, earning the prestigious Betty Gayle Cooper Ratliff Fast Time Award presented by the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame.
Of course, every great roper needs a great horse. For Miller, that horse is Jigsaw Wild Card, better known as "Jigsaw," a talented gelding she purchased from LA Waters Quarter Horses and developed alongside her father, Craig. Their partnership has become one of the most exciting in breakaway roping, with Jigsaw finishing third in the 2025 Nutrena Horse of the Year race presented by AQHA. Alongside veteran mare Twisted Barbarella, known as "Iggy," Miller has assembled a team capable of competing with the very best in the sport.
Raised by parents Craig and Randi and mentored by legendary horsewomen Lari Dee Guy and Hope Thompson, Miller carries the confidence of someone who has been surrounded by great teachers and great horses her entire life.
She's still chasing her first world championship. But if the early chapters of her story are any indication, Aspen Miller is a name rodeo fans are going to be hearing for a very long time.
