Columbus OH Section, NCNW Inc. Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune founded NCNW in 1935. Today, NCNW serves as a point of unity for some four million African American women.

It is the place where YOU can discover the alternatives and support that will help you REACH YOUR DREAMS. African American women need a place to explore opportunities and a place to find the alternatives and support that will help you get where you want to go. That is why the Columbus Section of The National Council of Negro Women, Inc. (NCNW) continues to be a vital, empowering presence in Central Ohio, the United States and around the world.

The NCNW Columbus Section proudly celebrated the 90th Anniversary of NCNW and our own 42nd Anniversary on November 1, 2025. This year’s Annual Fundraiser carried a vibrant autumn spirit under the theme “Celebrating Our Legacy of Service.

“We were deeply honored to receive Congressional Recognition, Senatorial Citations, an Ohio House Commendation, a Certificate of Recognition, and a Resolution of Expressions—all beautifully displayed in the lobby beside the Registration Table.

Before the Brunch, guests explored the lively NCNW Marketplace, complete with appetizers, photo opportunities at the NCNW backdrop, and 13 exceptional vendors.

In honor of NCNW’s 90th Anniversary, we were privileged to welcome Dr. Evelyn Bethune, granddaughter of our founder, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. She shared heartfelt reflections on her grandmother’s legacy and offered signed copies of her books at her vendor table.

We were grateful for the presence of Senator Hearcel F. Craig and NCNW Sections from Cincinnati, Dayton, Cleveland, Lorain, and Indiana.

During the Brunch, we recognized our three scholarship recipients—Alani Ferguson (Xavier University), Jaiden Rene Lyles (Columbus State Community College), and Bree‐A Smith (Kentucky University).

We also presented Community Service Awards to Shayla Favor, Jessica M. Roach, and Courtney Coman.

Proceeds from the Annual Fundraiser support the “Be the Change” Scholarship Fund and our Community Programs.

Donations may be made via CashApp at $NCNWCOLS.

To our special guests, thank you. Deep appreciation goes to our Annual Fundraising Committee and everyone who contributed to the success of this memorable event.”
