NOBLE - Central Ohio Chapter would like to express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of our chapter member, Mr. Vernon L. Baisden, who passed away on September 1, 2026, in Westerville, Ohio, at the age of 78. Vernon was always pleasant and had a kind or positive word to share with those he encountered. He lived a life devoted to public service and higher education. Vernon spent more than 30 years in public safety, he served as a patrol officer and rose to the rank of lieutenant and commanding officer in the University of Michigan Department of Public Safety’s Community Relations and Crime Prevention Unit. He later joined Ohio State University on August 14, 2000, continuing the work that defined so much of his life. Across these years, he gave his time and talent to institutions and communities that depended on calm leadership, thoughtful planning, and a deep understanding of public safety. Vernon’s impact will live on through the many lives and institutions touched by his work.

NOBLE - Central Ohio Chapter shared a great time with the community at Back-to-school book bag giveaway events at National Night Out and a more recent event at Barnett Recreation Center. It was a great event. Excluding our wonderful adults, there were 200 children/students that were able to get resources. A BIG thank you to Officer A. Broussard for organizing the event and ordering the book bags and supplies with funding from our grant from Target. Thank you to Our Executive Board for helping with the event.
