Six years ago, Maddie McGarvey spoke to CSCA as a young but quickly emerging documentary photographer.

Her future looked bright, and indeed it was—she’s now an established, award-winning photographer with special interests in rural America, poverty, grief, resiliency, politics, and how policy directly affects those living in this country.

A product of the .university photojournalism program, Maddie captures her subjects in vivid, evocative detail. She’s often most interested in what’s happening just out of view, in life’s margins, literally and figuratively. More human than partisan.

We are thrilled to welcome Maddie back to our stage. She’s seen and experienced a lot since we last talked, and we can’t wait to hear what she has to say.

2026 summer camp sessions are filling up fast!

Be sure to register soon to reserve a spot for Camp Architecture and Design and High School Design Studio.

Camp Architecture and Design (grades 3–8) will be held the following weeks:
June 1–5, OSU, Knowlton School
June 8–12, OSU, Knowlton School
June 15–19, OSU, Knowlton School
June 22–26, OSU, Knowlton School
July 6–10, The Center for Architecture and Design
July 13–17, The Center for Architecture and Design
July 20–24, The Center for Architecture and Design
July 27–31, The Center for Architecture and Design

High School Design Studio (grades 9–12) will be held:
June 1–12, OSU, Knowlton School of Architecture

As in previous years, need-based scholarships are available. In addition to the scholarship application, a reference form must be completed by a student’s coach, teacher, counselor, or other non-family member.
