At last week’s meeting, our members heard Columbia Heights Public Schools superintendent Zena Stenvik and finance and operations director Brian Henneken describe the need for the operations levy on the Nov. 3 election ballot and the district’s continuing emphasis on fiscal responsibility.

We had a great time at the pumpkin carving event this week at Springbrook Nature Center. You'll be able to view our pumpkins at Pumpkin Night in the Park tomorrow, October 17, from 5-9 pm!

Tomorrow, October 10, is the Columbia Heights Fire Department Open House from 11 am to 2 pm at the Columbia Heights Fire Department (825 41st Ave NE).

We partnered with Mike's Discount Foods - Fridley and the Columbia Heights Professional Firefighters -IAFF Local 1216 to provide free pumpkins for families!

We hope you can attend the fun event, and bring home a free pumpkin!

Today, October 7, we welcomed District Governor Elect Lonny Stormo to our meeting. We heard him lead an interactive discussion of the benefits and purposes of Rotary.

Thanks to member Rich Coleman for describing his investment venture, Drink X Hydration, at this week's meeting. Founded by three athletes, X Hydration offers a fitness water with improved nutrition and system absorbability. Rich described the young company’s marketing strategies and goals.

Thank you to Rotary District 5950, MN Polio Plus program chair Tim Mulcrone of Chanhassen Rotary Club for visiting our Club this week!

Tim reviewed the disease’s known history, describe the planning and prospects for its final eradication, and describe the need for continuing funding of Rotary’s longest-standing charitable program.

On 10/24/26, World Polio Day at 10 a.m. CST, Rotary members across Region 36 – Zones 25 & 29 are coming together for something BIG — a bold, unified step toward a polio-free world.

We are calling on 36,620 Rotarians and 964 Rotaractors across 11 states and 2 countries to take part in the World’s Largest Polio Walk — a powerful, visible demonstration of our commitment to ending polio forever.

This event takes place from 7:30 am to 9:30 am at the Mall of America.
