Just a few more days for posts to get registered for the Explorer competition at Governors Fire Prevention Day! Posts who've already registered have received their public education topics. Will we see you there?

Registration is now open the Explorer competition at Governors Fire Prevention Day. Head on over to our website to get your post registered. Additionally, advisors are encouraged to attend the MN-FEA meeting on Thursday, July 16th where we discuss the event in more detail and review event score sheets.

Spring Lake Park OEC in collaboration with Northern Star Exploring is offering a technical rescue camp from July 30-August 2 at Fridley Fire Station 1.

The four-day event features a multitude of topics, exercises and training including ropes, webbing, harnesses and hardware; lowering systems; rescue knots, anchors and rigging; patient evacuation skills and scenarios; mechanical advantage systems; steep angle systems; a rescue team challenge and more. To maintain a four-to-one Explorer to Instructor ratio, enrollment is limited to twelve Explorers.

The camp is only $25. Register soon - the deadline has been extended but we expect the spots to fill quickly.

Yesterday, 6 teams from 5 Exploring posts gathered at Fridley Fire to prepare for Governors Fire Prevention Day. Thanks to Fridley Fire for hosting. And if you don't have plans Friday, August 28th come on down to the MN State Fair and see posts from across the region compete in Dan Patch Park.

Our next MN-FEA meeting is Thursday, April 16th from 7-8pm at Columbia Heights Fire Department. We'll be discussing Governors Fire Prevention Day (including some potential changes to events), our practice day, and hosting elections. If you're an Explorer advisor, we hope you can join us.
