Dignified Flag Retirement Ceremony TODAY at American Legion Post 284.
1:00 PM- Public is Welcome to Attend.

Flag Day is a time to recognize when the Second Continental Congress established the Stars and Stripes — believed to be made by Elizabeth Griscom (aka Betsy Ross) — as the official flag of our nation on June 14, 1777. 🇺🇸 President Woodrow Wilison issued a proclamation for the observance in 1916, and it became an official observance in 1949 signed in by President Harry Truman. Today, let’s give a round to Old Glory! 👏🇺🇸

Fun Fact: Our current flag is the 27th iteration of the national flag, which just so happens to be the same number of amendments (27) in the U.S. Constitution.

Help the next leader in line succeed 🤝 Leadership and mentoring are incredibly important for the future of the American Legion Auxiliary as members pass down knowledge on how to move the mission forward. This is true for all levels of the organization — from unit to national. Sharing leadership advice — ranging from how to run a meeting to working through difficult topics to successful mission-outreach ideas — can all benefit the next group of leaders to flourish and continue a mindset of veterans, military, and their families first. 🇺🇸

Check out the ALA blog to learn more leadership and passing on the knowledge.
