From start to finish, this has been a profoundly rewarding experience, and it has been my honor to serve as your Convention Chair. The 2024 AMO convention is one that will go down in history as one of the all-time greats.
THANK YOU to everyone who came and participated, to our many sponsors, and to the many volunteers (more about y'all below).
We had a schedule jam-packed with two informative tech talks, two quality field trips, a cruise-in, a talk by AMC racing legend Amos Johnson, a live concert by Lenny Holmes & The Forever Band, the first showing of American Motors: The Last Independent Automaker, the special opportunity to see a real live AMX/3, admission to tour the incredible Keystone Antique Truck & Tractor Museum, and a swap meet featuring 86 vendor spots.
There were 144 cars entered in the Concours car show, with 71 judged, all of which qualified for awards.
Potomac Ramblers made $3,788.69 and AMO made $2,672.65, amounts which help fund the clubs' responsibilities throughout the year.
Business directly generated by our convention was a huge boon to the local economy, and the goodwill and word of mouth will continue to generate tourism and help build this very deserving community for years to come.
We included as many free events as possible and structured the prices of everything else to be as affordable as possible for people to enjoy. Potomac Ramblers rounded our bartender's tip from the $4xx ($1 per drink) up to an even $500, rounded up our payment to Colonial Heights Middle School from $855 up to an even $1000 for trailer parking, and in addition to the nearly $1300 in contributions made during the convention including $500 from The Marlin Auto Club, Potomac Ramblers donated an additional $1000 to the Colonial Heights Food Pantry.
The most exceptional part was the team of volunteers who saw where they could fit and helped out. Each of these people was critical to the success of , and we are all grateful to you.
