New Jersey Chamber Orchestra On Friday, July 9 at 7:00 pm, The New Jersey Chamber Orchestra is coming to The Music Barn.

The New Jersey Chamber Orchestra is a premier professional nonprofit ensemble, recognized for delivering artistically exceptional and stylistically refined orchestral performances to audiences throughout New Jersey and the surrounding region. Join them for their debut concert celebrating the iconic music of Aaron Copland. Led by conductor Thomas Hong, the evening will be filled with familiar and p

opular tunes including The Promise of Living and Simple Gifts, performed by an accomplished lineup of distinguished artists featuring guest soloist Robin Massie, soprano; Madison Day, Rachel Hart and Natalie DaSilva, violins; and Rachel Ku, viola. This exciting new chamber ensemble encapsulates the hope, optimism and earnestness of the American spirit present in Copland’s Appalachian Spring and Tender Land Suite. It promises to be a most intimate evening of music-making to introduce this brand new ensemble to The Music Barn and Southern New Jersey audience.

MEET THE MUSICIANS OF NEW JERSEY CHAMBER ORCHESTRA!

🎶 Featured Musician: Rebecca Simon 🎶

Principal Flute – New Jersey Chamber Orchestra

Meet Rebecca “Becki” Simon, a dynamic force in the Mid-Atlantic music scene! Based in the Philadelphia area, Becki is a passionate teacher, chamber coach, and performer. She serves as principal flute of the New Jersey Chamber Orchestra and is a long-time member of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra. Her artistry has graced ensembles such as the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, Reading Symphony, Harrisburg Symphony, and many more.

Becki’s dedication to education is equally inspiring. She teaches flute and chamber music at Swarthmore, Bryn Mawr, and Haverford Colleges, and has directed the Bi-Co Flute Choir for over 20 years. Her students have gone on to study at top conservatories including Juilliard, Oberlin, and Boston Conservatory.

She holds a Master’s in Flute Performance from Peabody Conservatory and a B.A. from the University of Maryland. Her mentors include Mark Sparks, William Montgomery, Laurie Sokoloff, and Kazuo Tokito.

Beyond performance and teaching, Becki is a committed advocate for the musical community. She serves on the boards of the Flute Society of Greater Philadelphia, Upper Darby High School Band Parents, and was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Chamber Orchestra.
