Wildfire season is here. Right now, Shelter Services Team Member is
one of the most needed volunteers. Next Thursday, join the American Red Cross Northwest Region for a one-day shelter training at the YMCA, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This training will provide valuable information and resources to help you be prepared to respond when disaster strikes. To help build a stronger wildfire response network, just click the link in the comments to sign up today.

WWU students using their skills for the community🐾The summer heat can make walking your pets dangerous. A group of engineering majors just completed and installed a solar-powered pavement temperature sensor and display for the Blue Mountain Humane Society to combat this!

These last couple of weeks, Maranatha Volunteers International have been such a blessing! They have been working hard to help give one of Walla Walla University's historic buildings a new life and purpose.

Our very own Mayor Norma L. Hernandez even came out to the site to thank these amazing volunteers and catch a first glance at WWU's future operational base for student-led, community-serving programs.

🛞 Dozens of tires
🌈 One big spring cleanup!

The City of Walla Walla Government regularly hosts cleanup days for neighborhoods where residents may not have easy or affordable access to waste removal. In the midst of prepping for finals, Walla Walla University students took the opportunity to serve, joining others from the community and Providence St. Mary Medical Center. During the six-hour event, volunteers helped residents register, load and unload material, trim grass or vegetation, and dispose of everything from tires to TVs.

In May, local churches came together to Serve One More in our community.

They invited the Pendleton Auto Repair Coop to perform free oil changes for dozens of families.

They partnered with our Our Hey Neighbor Neighbor initiative on a healthcare worker appreciation event to spread kindness at Providence St. Mary Medical Center with free garden plants and freshly-baked cookies.

They gathered entertainers, first responders, support groups, and free food for a fair to connect families with local resources.

They prepared and distributed free disaster buckets for use in emergency scenarios.

Hundreds of lives were touched through this weekend of volunteer service—thank you for showing up!
