Hickory Homemakers

Hickory Homemakers We are a group of women of all ages who meet the third Monday of each month. We discuss and do things to better our homes, families and the community.

We are always welcoming new members. We are a part of Indiana Extension Homemakers Association. We are the Hickory Homemakers Extension club in Colfax, Indiana. Our club was started on November 12, 1979. We will celebrate 34 years in November. Meeting are held on the third Monday of each month at 7pm in the Colfax Community building. Our meetings start with a business meeting then a lesson and end

with refreshments. We have lessons on foods and nutrition, family, education, health, or other topics. We have guest speakers, do crafts, and go on road trips. We have a fundraiser every August during Ole Hickory Days, when we sell pie slices. Proceeds are used for giving back to the community by donating to Jacob's Ladder food pantry, community Christmas baskets, Library, fire department, and two Clinton Prairie Seniors receive a scholarship from us each year. We also participate in county Extension Homemaker projects as well. Reading to Head Start for "First Books", BINGO at the nursing home, sitting at the fair, and collecting "Pop Tabs". The county Extension Homemakers also provide Leader Lesson, to those interested members. We also donate baked goods to different county Extension Homemaker projects.

Join us for a night of music and community for 7yr. old Lennon Simpson and family. Lennon suffered many life-threatening injuries after a golf cart accident happened on August 6th. We want the community to come together September 19 from 7 PM to 10 PM to raise funds for this precious boy and his family to help offset medical costs. Join us in the lot across from the Colfax pizza King. If you would like to help in any way contact Lacey (number listed on OHD FB page)from the OHD committee. We are taking donations of goods and services for a silent auction on Sept. 19th.  Radio flyer who was supposed to play the Friday night show at our festival will be playing some amazing music that night. The Colfax Pizza King will be giving a percentage of their sales for that day to the Simpson family. This is still a developing event so more things could be happening on the night of to help bring this community together and to help a child and his family. Colfax Pizza King Radio Flyer

Hickory Homemakers meeting Monday night August 17th 7pm at the Gathering Place in Colfax. Hostess Janet Gish is going to teach us how to play a card game. If anyone wants to come check us out to see if you would like to join us, we would love to have you! We only meet once a month on the third Monday of the month.
