Tonight we traveled through time to the early 1800s to trade as the voyegeurs at Fort Ouiatenon on the banks of the Wabash. Each scout had to trade beaver plew (skins) for blankets and corn to survive the winter. All while maintaining the character they were given. A blacksmith, merchant, voyageur, shop keeper and an old man. 🙂 Thanks to Black Box Theater’s Matt for leading us through how to act and maintain a character.

Tonight we learned about teamwork. The goal, take your socks off without dumping the water. This is a game that requires communication, a plan, and executing to the plan. You can’t succeed if you think of yourself in this game. The team has to be forefront. At the end, I asked the boys, what was one thing you could have done better and you can’t say anything about someone else.

Also passed out 20 merit badges. These scouts are doing great, learning new things and having fun along the way.

It’s been a fun week at Ransburg. The scouts all had a lot of fun and are excited to come back next year and sad to go home. All told 186 rank requirements, 16 merit badges, IOLS, and a lots of things learned in one week.
