What's up boo! How are you doing? It was cooler today, that's a good thing. I don't do well in the brimstone heat. Makes me cranky. No one needs me to be cranky.

So, I'm just checking in and letting you know what's coming down the pike for the 456.

Next on tap for the Grange and the Thrift Shop is a website. I'm making it easier for you to get your questions answered about what we accept, when we accept it and what your options are if it's something we can't take.

We have some fall and Halloween items in the Shop, our air conditioner is quite lovely and we miss your face. Come pay a visit!

You can reach out to the fine folks that run the shop to get your questions answered. We always need volunteers and shifts are just 2.5 hours.

Wow. So yesterday on The Book of Face, I asked for 3 bids for the 456 to get some power washing done.

I got a response from Kevin Roach at Leading Edge Painting saying not only could he do it for us, but he would do it free of charge. 😳

I met him today at 1pm at the 456 to show him what I needed done. He said "not a problem!"

I figured he would squeeze us in somewhere in the next few weeks.

Nope.

He started and finished by 3pm today.

This is what the Cloverdale community is all about.

If you need any of his services, give him a call. Tell him the 456 sent ya!

Yes, I know that you love talking to me but the reality is, I work for the 456, not the Thrift Shop. I have no clue as to how things work there.

Oh dang.

I got a call late this afternoon ( via the Food Pantry) about children in need.

It's only by luck that I received the call. I don't get cell service in my office in Ukiah, but I do if I'm walking around the medical center.

A grandmother, three states away, was crying and desperate for help for her grandchildren

Her grandchildren fled a domestic abuse situation late at night. In their jammies. They were in Cloverdale.

In. Their. Jammies.

They needed help. They needed clothes. Now.

I met them in the Thrift Shop as soon as possible. They were dressed in their jammies. My heart broke.

I let them shop. They picked out what they needed. They hugged me, one by one.

This gut punched me right in the feels.

The 456 and the Cloverdale Thrift Shop are making a difference.
