How exciting!
Upgrades Coming to the Cloverdale Veterans Memorial Building
Sonoma Public Infrastructure is moving forward with two improvement projects at the Cloverdale Veterans Memorial Building to make it more reliable, accessible, and resilient for veterans and the community.
⚡ Energy Resiliency & Backup Power
The building currently does not have backup power and must close during outages. Public Infrastructure received permits late last year and expects to begin construction of a new energy resiliency system in early 2026.
This system will:
• Provide emergency backup power during outages
• Help manage electricity use during normal conditions by reducing strain on the power grid
The project is currently in the contractor selection phase.
♿ Kitchen Accessibility Improvements
PI is also preparing to begin accessibility and path-of-travel improvements in the kitchen area. “Path of travel” refers to safe, accessible routes through a space, such as doorways, clearances, and signage.
These improvements will:
• Increase accessibility and safety
• Bring the space into compliance with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) standards
• Improve usability for staff, volunteers, and visitors
Design, permitting, and contractor selection are complete. Construction will be scheduled soon and coordinated to reduce impacts.
All work will take place inside the kitchen, and the building will remain open during construction. ADA signage will be added at facility exits.
These projects reflect the County’s ongoing commitment to maintaining safe and accessible public facilities. Thank you for your patience as we invest in upgrades that will serve Cloverdale veterans and residents for years to come.
We’ll continue to share updates as work moves forward.
