23 years ago today 300 dogs were heros on 9/11 and for weeks after. Search and rescue dogs came from all over the country and worked for hours on hours to find people both alive and that have passed, therapy dogs where there to lend a little comfort to all the first responders that were working at all hours of the day and night without ever going home. Dogs at home giving love and support to family members that were going through the worst days of their lives. It’s so amazing how a four legged animal, that doesnt speak our language can save our lives, change our mood or shift our outlook. Today we remember everyone from this horrific day both with 2 legs and 4.

HUGE VICTORY!!! South Korea's national assembly unanimously passed a bill to ban the eating and selling of dog meat on Tuesday.

The slaughtering, breeding, trading and selling of dog meat for human consumption will be prohibited starting in 2027. Violators of the new law will face penalties of two to three years imprisonment or a fine up to roughly $2,300.

Consuming dog meat in South Korea was a centuries-old tradition based on the belief that the meat has positive effects on an individual's stamina — but in modern days, the majority of South Koreans have been against it.

A week ago today we lost the dog that started it all, Rumba. She had been fighting cancer the past few months and crossed the rainbow bridge last Tuesday. 🪽🌈

Rumba was rescued in the Dominican Republic in 2017 while I was on vacation. We brought Rumba back along with 5 other dogs to New York City. All the dogs went to new homes here in the states but, Rumba was my soulmate and she spent the last 6 years and 8 months filling my soul. She was the fire behind Gals and the reason we fight so hard to help other dogs like her around the world. See more of Rumba's story on The Dodo.

On this Giving Tuesday we would like to honor Rumba by raising funds to host a spay and neuter clinic in the Dominican Republic on the beach where she stole our hearts.

Please help us reach our goal of $5,000 to honor Rumba and help contain the stray population so less dogs are hungry, homeless and alone. Link in bio.

MEET THE GALS RESCUE COMMUNITY! 🐶🇺🇬🤍

Feed a Stray Pet Foundation is a small organization in East Africa that works to help stray dogs and other pets in their community. In the small country of Uganda, most dogs are free-roaming and congregate near the villages, relying on scraps. However, many Ugandan people view these dogs as pests and poisoning is a more than common occurrence. Feed a Stray Pet Foundation has built a small shelter to house injured or sick stray dogs they find.
