A huge thank you to the incredible team at Just Gotta Laugh for turning laughter into lasting impact! 💙

Using proceeds from their February comedy night fundraiser benefiting MedWish MedWorks, the group, including our Board Member Brian Smith, Bill Painter and Randy Geise, sponsored the purchase of hygiene supplies and then rolled up their sleeves with our staff to assemble 1,000 hygiene kits in a single evening.

These kits will travel with our volunteer medical brigade to Honduras in July, where they will be distributed alongside free healthcare services and medical supplies for individuals and families in need.

Access to basic hygiene products is often limited in underserved communities, making these kits an important part of supporting health, dignity and well-being. Thank you, Just Gotta Laugh, for helping us expand access to essential resources and improve lives through your generosity and service!

This goes out to the amazing team at Progressive for volunteering with us last week! Their large group of 65 staff from their media team sorted seven pallets of mixed medical supplies, helping ensure valuable healthcare resources can reach patients who need them most.

Volunteer groups like this make a meaningful impact on healthcare access both locally and around the world. We're grateful for the energy, teamwork and dedication they brought to MedWish MedWorks!

♻️ Small donations can create a big impact.

Through our partnership with MedWish, Goodwill Industries of Lorain County recently shipped 9 pallets of donated medical equipment, keeping more than 2,500+ pounds of usable items out of local landfills.

By giving these items a second life, we're helping reduce waste while supporting healthcare efforts and communities in need.

Day 4 of our Dominican Republic Medical Brigade: 129 patients seen on our biggest clinic day of the week. 💙

On their final clinic day, our volunteers cared for 129 patients, including many children who came for check-ups and some with more serious health concerns. A large number of patients were of Haitian descent and spoke only Creole, so community members stepped in to help translate from English to Spanish and then from Spanish to Creole.

Due to dynamics in the country, many Haitians avoid public health facilities. So our clinic provided a welcoming place where families could seek medical attention.

Today, after a busy and successful week serving this community, the team was able to spend some well-earned time at a local beach to rest and recharge before returning home.

Only 1 Week Left to Donate Suitcases!

As we prepare for our July Honduras Medical Brigade, we’re collecting suitcases so our team can transport much-needed medical supplies and hygiene products to impoverished communities.

We’re looking for:
• Medium to large suitcases (wheels required)
• Functional pull handle (if applicable)
• As lightweight as possible
• Fabric suitcases: no rips or tears
• Hard/plastic suitcases: no cracks or damaged layers

If you have a suitcase you no longer use, please consider donating it to support this important mission.

Day 3 of our Dominican Republic Medical Brigade was another impactful day of service, with our volunteer team providing care to 100 patients.

It was a day filled with family visits, as many moms brought multiple children to receive care together. Our team also witnessed the lasting impact of donated medical equipment when an EKG machine we shipped in 2024 helped our medical lead monitor a sick patient’s blood pressure and heart rhythm following a medical emergency while awaiting transport to a hospital.

Every patient seen and every supply delivered helps strengthen access to healthcare for families in need. 💙

Today, we want to give a big shoutout to Lighthouse DR for their incredible partnership and hospitality during this week's Medical Brigade in the Dominican Republic!

Our relationship began several years ago with hand-carried medical supplies, grew to a shipping container of donated equipment and supplies, and has now expanded to include medical brigade teams. We are grateful for how this partnership has grown over the years.

This week, Lighthouse DR is hosting our team at their newly constructed clinic and facility. From helping prepare for our arrival to serving alongside us as translators and support staff throughout the week, their team has been instrumental in making this week of proving care to the local community a success.

This is our second brigade with Lighthouse DR, and we couldn't be more thankful for their partnership!

Day 2 of our Dominican Republic Medical Brigade was filled with meaningful impact! 💙 On the first clinic day inside the newly constructed LightHouse clinic — set to officially open this fall — our volunteer team provided care to 109 patients through pediatric, general medicine and women’s health appointments.

Each patient first met with our triage volunteers before seeing a provider. Patients left with medications and follow-up connections to local doctors when additional care was needed. We’re grateful to help bring compassionate care and support to this community.

Yesterday our volunteer medical brigade team of 13 officially arrived in the Dominican Republic to provide free healthcare to local families in need! 💙✈️

Each volunteer traveled with suitcases packed full of medical supplies for the free clinic, along with hygiene items and first-aid kits that will be sent home with families and left with our host LightHouse Projects. After landing yesterday, the team jumped right into action—setting up the clinic and pharmacy so everything was ready bright and early for patients today.

We'll be sharing updates throughout the week as the team carries out their medical mission.
