Gorilla SSP The Gorilla SSP is a group of dedicated professionals working to help all gorillas.

Together with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the Gorilla SSP serves the 52 accredited zoos housing gorillas in North America. Working closely with respected professionals in the field, the SSP provides help and guidance to zoos housing gorillas. Together, zoos and the SSP seek to provide the best possible environment for these amazing animals.

We’re headed to the today for our fourth and final birthday celebration! This handsome fella is Mondika, and today is his 7th birthday! Born and raised in Lincoln Park, Mondika has grown into quite the gorilla! From Keeper Dianne: “Born on Mother’s Day, he’s the gift that keeps on giving! He’s a spunky social butterfly who loves to play with all group members!” What a perfect mix of fun for Mondika, and we can only imagine how much you were spoiled today!

We’re headed to today for our third of 4 birthday celebrations! This handsome fella is Louis, and today is his 27th birthday! Originally born at the St. Louis Zoo, Louis spent 16 years at the Philadelphia Zoo before he and fellow bachelor Kuchimba headed to Granby in 2020. Once there, they joined two other bachelors (Jawara and Zwalani (Z now in Toronto)) that were already there. We hope you all lived the bachelor life and celebrated your bonne fête extravagantly!

Were headed to today for our second of 4 birthday celebrations! This lovely lady is Johari, and today is her 25th birthday! Originally born at the Toronto Zoo, Johari moved to Calgary last year after 24 years in Toronto. While it may have taken some time to get acclimated with your new troop, we know the keepers and the other gorillas made your day extra special!

Originally born at Smithsonian’s National Zoo, Kejana moved to Orlando in 1997 (before the park officially opened) to join their new groups. A long standing member of their bachelor group, we’re sure there was plenty of Disney magic to celebrate your big day!
