Kado update!

We’ve got a pretty big update on this guy… and honestly, we’re still wrapping our heads around it.

Kado went in for his heartworm workup and we decided to retest him… and he came up NEGATIVE.
We ran a confirmation test just to be sure… also negative.

So as of right now, Kado is 100% heartworm negative.

We’re not sure if the original test back in August at the shelter was a false positive or what happened, but we do use a more in depth type of testing, and we feel very confident in these results. Safe to say, we are not mad about it.

Now onto the rest of Kado’s glow up…

This 70 pound teddy bear is absolutely thriving in his foster home. He lives with three foster dog brothers and honestly… he could not care less about them. No issues, no drama, just coexisting like a pro.

He is fully potty and house trained and will let you know when he needs to go out by standing at the door or giving a little whine.

He’s also living with a 5 month old baby and doing amazing. He’s incredibly gentle, will occasionally walk over for a quick sniff, and then goes right back to minding his own business.

Kado is still coming out of his shell a bit and figuring out life outside of the shelter, but he’s settling in more every day. He’s been around chickens, ducks, and goats and has done great. He loves his walks, loves car rides (shotgun rider for life), and really just wants someone to hang out with. If you sit down, expect a 70 pound shadow right next to you.

And yes… we know. Big, scary, intimidating pitbull.
Except he’s not. Not even a little.

He just wants love, a safe place, and someone to follow around like it’s his full time job.

Kado is scheduled for a full dental cleaning tomorrow, and after that… he will be officially AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION.

Kado would fit into just about any home. Other dogs, farm animals, kids (with boundaries), busy households… he’s just happy to be included.

Enjoy some pictures of Kado hanging out with his two legged foster brother today! 😍

Chief update!

High fives for everyone!

He’s already put on a couple pounds this week and is looking so much better. He couldn’t get enough of the girls in the back… just soaking up all the attention like he’s known them forever.

He’s settling into his foster home and doing awesome. Just happy, comfortable, and really starting to relax.

We keep thinking about what his life looked like before all of this. We may not know the full story, but we do know someone cared about him at some point. You can see it in the way he loves everyone he meets, how he already knows some basic commands, and the fact that he’s fully housebroken. Someone took the time with him.

We’re not sure how he ended up where he did, but we do know this… he’ll never feel anything less than loved again.

Hi. Clover here. Yes, I am still available. No, I do not understand it either.

Let’s go over this again because something is not adding up.

I am six years old. I am small. I am fluffy. I give kisses. I dance for snacks. I am basically the full package.

I am also fully vetted, which means I am spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and I already had my dental cleaning. I am good to go. No extra “surprise expenses” here. You’re welcome.

I did come from a puppy mill, so some things were new to me at first, but I have come a long way and figured this whole “being a loved dog” thing out pretty quickly.

I love my people and will follow you around like your tiny supervisor all day. Need help in the kitchen? I’m there. Going to the bathroom? Also there. Personal space is not really my thing.

At night, I sleep under the bed. Not on the bed. Not next to the bed. Under it. It’s my decision and I stand by it. 😆

During the day I hang out freely and do my thing. I use potty pads like a champ, and when my person is home I will bark to let you know I need to go outside. Very polite. Very professional.

Now let’s talk requirements because I do have standards

Fenced yard. Non negotiable. I have places to be.
Cats. Absolutely not. I have said this before.
Kids. Older ones only. I’m thinking 7 or 8 and up. No tiny humans moving at lightning speed.

I do well with other small dogs. Big dogs make me a little nervous, so I would prefer to keep my circle small.

A couple important things from my rescue team

Applicants must be within one hour driving distance of Cleveland, Ohio
A complete application is required prior to an in home meet and greet
The application link will be in the comments

So yeah… I’m still waiting for my home. It’s a little weird at this point, but I’m choosing to believe my perfect people are just running late.

Love,
Clover 🐾

Chimi is spending the week with Paige at South River Canine!

We got his day one update and it sounds about right:

“He is so damn cute. Already follows me everywhere. For day one he is understanding all of his shaping work very well! Did awesome overnight, no accidents, and seems to be the sweetest marshmallow ever.”

He’s settling in great, picking things up quickly, and being his usual clingy, lovable self.

Also, Chimi is fully healed from his neuter and will be ready for applications soon, so keep an eye out! 👀

We’ll keep you posted on how he does this week!

Here is an update on Ookie!

Meet Ookie, our sweet little Boston Terrier mix with a whole lot of wiggle packed into one tiny body.

Some of you may remember, Ookie (formerly Poky) came to us after being found as a stray. She was not microchipped, but after posting her, her owner came forward. After talking through everything, he made the difficult but loving decision to surrender her to us so she could get the medical care she needed. He was incredibly kind and appreciative, and it’s clear she was loved.

Since coming to us, Ookie has been putting in the work. She has been treated for demodex, a skin infection, whipworms, tapeworms, and coccidia, and she is doing so much better already.

She’s about 9 months old and full of personality. She’s learning her manners and doing great. She knows “sit,” but holding it is another story when her whole body is wiggling with excitement. She is partially house trained. She understands outside is for potty, we just need to keep working on consistency.

She walks great on a leash and truly loves everyone. Dogs, cats, kids, people, even the sassy ones. She’s just happy to be here.

Ookie bonds hard and loves even harder, so she does show some separation anxiety when she can’t see her person. It’s something we’re working on, and she’s already making progress.

And we would be doing her a disservice if we didn’t mention her TEETH.

Her little teefs are absolutely top tier.👌

She is scheduled to be spayed this Thursday, and once she is all healed up, we will begin accepting applications.

She’s a special one, and we can’t wait for everyone to see just how great she is!

It’s Lost Pet Awareness Day!!

Hi. It’s Daria.

My mom told me I had to make this post because apparently today is Lost Pet Awareness Day. She said it in the same tone she uses when she triple checks the door is locked… so you can imagine the level of seriousness here.

She wants everyone to know she is very paranoid. Like… checks my collar, checks the gate, checks me again kind of paranoid. Honestly a little dramatic, but also she loves me so I let it slide.

And between us… I also do not want to get lost. Absolutely not. Hard pass.
Have you seen “the wild”? There are noises. And strangers. And no couch. I would simply panic and make very poor decisions.

I am what you would call… a little strange. I like my routine. I like my mom. I like knowing exactly where I am at all times. Being lost would not fit into my schedule.

So here’s what my mom wants you to do so she can sleep at night:

• Make sure your pet has a collar and tag
• Microchip them and keep your info updated
• Check your fences and doors because apparently we are all escape artists now
• Maybe don’t assume “they would never run off” because… we might

Anyway. Stay safe out there. Stay home. Stay where your snacks are.

Love, Dar (the best bad girl)

Three tiny faces, one very big “what now?” moment.

These three little babies were found dumped in a park with their siblings and ended up at the Euclid Animal Shelter. We were able to step in and take some of them, and now they’re safe with us.

We’ve got two boys and one little girl, and we’re guessing they’re only about 5–6 weeks old. Just babies. Still figuring out the world, still needing all the extra care, warmth, and time to grow.

Right now they are NOT available for adoption, and we are not considering applications at this time. They have a lot of growing (and healing) to do before we even think about that.

If anyone is looking to help, we could really use some supplies for these little things. We’ll be adding a link to our wish list.

For now, we just wanted you to meet these tiny little survivors. They may have had a rough start, but they landed somewhere soft.

Chief update! ❤️

Chief is settling in so well. He’s met his roomies and they all get along great, just fitting right in like he’s always been there. He’s always happy… his tail seriously never stops wagging.

He’s been enjoying his days, getting into a routine, and soaking up all the good things that come with finally being in a home again. And his foster dad? Completely in love with him already… which we totally knew was gonna happen.

We can’t thank his foster family enough for taking a chance on an older pittie. Puppies get scooped up so easily, but it takes a special kind of person to open their home to a senior dog like Chief.

We’re really grateful for them, and so is he.

Gladys update!

Miss girl is officially 50 pounds!!!

When we got her back, she was only 39 pounds and skin and bones. She’s still on the thinner side, but she looks SO much better and we’re really proud of how far she’s come.

And yes… she is still looking for her home.

Gladys is a one year old German Shepherd who does well with other dogs. She would love a fenced yard, but it’s not a dealbreaker for the right home.

She can be nervous with a lot of fast movement, so we are recommending a home with kids around 12 and up. Once she warms up, she does really well and builds nice connections.

She’s been bounced around more than any dog should, and she deserves a home where she feels safe, loved, and understood.

She’s a great dog. She just needs someone who is around more often than not and can give her the structure and consistency she thrives on. She’s also not a fan of being crated, so that’s something her future home will need to work with.

Gladys is ready. Now we just need her person.

We just wanted to take a minute to say thank you to everyone who came out to Jackie’s Bar on Friday night !

It really meant a lot to us to see so many people show up, hang out, laugh, and just support what we do. The karaoke may not have been… great 😂 but honestly, that’s what made it so fun. Just a room full of people letting loose and enjoying the night together.

A huge thank you to the Sisterhood of Survivors for choosing our rescue for this fundraiser. You are such an incredible group, and we’re so grateful you thought of us. We truly hope this is just the beginning and we can do more together in the future.

And thank you to Rich from Jackie’s for opening your doors to us and letting us take over for the night. Your support means more than you know.

Because of all of you, we raised a little over $1,500. That goes directly to the care of our dogs, and it truly makes a difference for them.

We’re really lucky to be surrounded by people who show up for us like this. Thank you for being part of what we do. ♥️

Meet our newest little girl… OOKIE 💕

Ookie came to us after a good Samaritan found her as a stray and made sure she got somewhere safe. When she arrived, it was clear she needed some medical attention, so we got started right away.

She was not microchipped, but after posting her in all the appropriate places, her owner did come forward. We learned her name was originally Poky, but somewhere along the way she became Ookie to us… and it just stuck. we learned that she is a Boston terrier/pug mix and she will be turning a year old in June.

After talking through everything going on and the care she needs, it was decided that surrendering her to us was the best option so she could get everything taken care of.

And we want to make this very clear…
Ookie was loved. Her owner was kind, appreciative, and truly wanted what was best for her. Sometimes it comes down to finances, and in this case, he made a really hard but selfless decision to make sure she got the care she needs.

Right now, Ookie is getting a full reset.
She’s being treated for demodex, whipworms, tapeworms, and coccidia. She’s also on antibiotics for her skin and getting medicated baths, and we’re working on putting some much-needed weight back on her.

And can we talk about her little teefs for a second… because WOW 😍
This girl has the cutest little smile and the funniest little teef. We are obsessed.

She’s safe, she’s healing, and she’s already stealing hearts around here.

We’ll keep everyone updated as she continues to feel better.
