Intake Alert!! Love-A-Stray pulled this sweet girl when our Friends of Lorain County Dog Kennel, Inc. asked for HELP! She had a full exam at Avon Lake Animal Clinic and Dr. Lamb said she has a bad skin infection from a flea infestation. He is estimating her age at 7 years old. Dr Lamb did bloodwork to make sure there are no underlying issues, and he did not see a spay scar. Once her skin infection is cleared up with medicated baths and antibiotics, she will be scheduled for spay. Renata is already feeling better with all the special care she is getting at the clinic!! We should have bloodwork results back by Monday. Stay Tuned for updates!

Side gig for Love-A-Stray......rescue an orphaned Mallard duckling. Now little Quackers is happy living with the other orphans at Lake Erie Nature & Science Center.

Blue-green algae is one of the most dangerous warm-weather risks many dog owners still don’t know enough about. ⚠️🐶

This toxic bacteria can grow in:
• ponds
• lakes
• slow-moving water
• standing water

It often appears as:
• green slime
• paint-like scum
• green surface streaks
• pea soup-looking water

Even small amounts can be deadly if ingested.

Dogs may be exposed by:
• drinking contaminated water
• swimming
• licking fur afterward

Symptoms can appear very quickly and may include:
• vomiting
• diarrhea
• weakness
• drooling
• seizures
• difficulty breathing
• collapse

If exposure is suspected, immediate veterinary care is critical.

When in doubt, it’s safest to keep dogs away from suspicious water entirely.
