Summer Meals are back! ☀️
Starting May 29, join BOCA Community every Wednesday evening through September 2 at 6PM for a shared meal and good conversation. City Fields is sponsoring the kickoff meal next week, so we’ll provide the main course, just bring yourself (and a side dish to share if you'd like).
All neighbors are welcome, we hope to see you there!

The homebuying process doesn't have to be scary, we're here to help!

Alongside a HUD Certified housing counselor from UT Extension of Polk County other financial experts, we'll help answer all your homebuying questions. Our next Homebuyer Education Workshop will be May 26th and 28th; this two-night class will open the door to THDA and other federally backed loans, and will make you eligible to purchase a City Fields home with Down Payment Assistance if that's the right path for you!

The HHM Certified Public Accountants Experience brought more than 40 students to the Blythe Oldfield and College Hill community gardens today, connecting valuable behind the scenes work to a tangible project that benefits from that work. The 2-day HHM Experience gives aspiring accounting professionals real experience beyond the classroom, and part of that includes community service and engagement.

This talented group helped out with gardening and landscaping and learned more about our work at City Fields. Thank you so much for your hard work today and for a partnership that keeps organizations like ours running efficiently.

Today we celebrated Walk to School Day with Blythe-Bower Elementary School School , highlighting the importance of walkable neighborhoods, safe and accessible sidewalks, and healthy ways to connect with our neighbors.

Last week, we had another cohort of graduates complete our short term MIG Welding bootcamp, taking a confident step towards stable employment. Alongside words of encouragement from our director and Cleveland State Community College, students also heard from Bryan Deaton of Norfolk Southern, reminding them to "keep your hood down, keep welding, and and the sky's the limit."

We’re so thankful for the opportunity to host some local partners on neighborhood tours this month. Being able to take a walk with our partners, answer their questions, show them around the neighborhood, and share how their support is making a real impact is incredibly meaningful. These moments of curiosity and connection can help deepen understanding of our mission, strengthen relationships, and bring refreshed energy for future partnership.

What a special Community Garden Kickoff event for neighbors in both Blythe Oldfield and College Hill; we got our hands in the dirt preparing garden beds for the season ahead, while also making time for conversation, connection, and a shared meal. A big thank you to neighbors and volunteers from UT and TSU Extension - Bradley County , Wacker Polysilicon, and Builtwell Bank for joining in and lending a hand, and partners from Publix for helping ensure these gardens thrive. Celebrating Women in Industry 🏭

March is Women's History Month, and this month we want to celebrate our female students who show up to workforce programming with a boldness and willingness to learn new skills in what are so often male-dominated industries. Historically, women excel in skilled trades industries, feeling the need to stand out and perform above average in order to be respected. Women have often been overlooked in fields like Welding, Plumbing, HVAC, and Electrical Wiring, when in reality they are some of the highest performing employees when given equal opportunities. This month we celebrate these women's talent, capability, and tenacity in industries where there is often an uphill climb to success.

Learning the Homebuying Process 📝

Saturday’s Homebuyer Education Workshop was full of learning and laughing, and we were joined by some great speakers from UT Extension of Polk County, Operation HOPE, Inc. , and First Bank . They covered everything from credit repair, choosing the right mortgage, and some simple home maintenance tips like when to change your air filters.

We’re so excited for each of these future homeowners as they take the next step towards buying a home with their THDA Certificates in hand. Thanks to United Way of the Ocoee Region for helping make these workshops possible and supporting stable housing in our community!
