Control can sometimes be disguised as concern.
According to the CDC, 16% of women have experienced an intimate partner trying to keep them from seeing or speaking with family and friends.
Isolation can make it harder for someone to recognize unhealthy behavior, ask for help, or imagine a life outside the relationship. That is why staying connected matters.
When someone shares that she may be experiencing abuse, listen without judgment. Believe her. Avoid pressuring her into decisions she may not be ready or safe enough to make. A calm, compassionate response can become the first bridge between crisis and support.
At Foundation House Ministries, we believe no woman should have to rebuild alone. If you or someone you know is facing a crisis pregnancy or an unsafe situation, call Foundation House Ministries at (423) 464-5351 or visit foundationhouseministries.org.
