Malachi House

Malachi House Malachi House cares for the terminally ill in Cleveland who have no caregiver or no available funds to pay for care. We are supported by donations only.

Nestled in historic Ohio City, our Home provides comfort to those in the final stages of their lives in a setting that was originally four row houses donated to St. Malachi Church. More than 100,000 volunteer hours were donated to the gutting and complete reconstruction of these houses into a warm and comfortable home that includes private bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a chapel plus acti

vity rooms. Over the past 32 years, Malachi House has served as a final home for over 2500 people, caring for 15 of them at a time.

Our Executive Director, Judy Ghazoul Hilow, is proud to serve as a member of the Cleveland State University Foundation Board and is honored to represent the Malachi House community through her involvement.

Joined by her husband and daughter, she enjoyed an inspiring evening alongside fellow community leaders.

Each year, the Cleveland State University Foundation Board hosts the Radiance Gala in support of student scholarships and student success initiatives.

A heartfelt thank you to donor and friend of Malachi House, Del Younglas, for capturing a truly beautiful moment outside our home, a rainbow shining directly above Malachi House. 🌈

Del thoughtfully converted the image to canvas before gifting it to us in person. He was welcomed by volunteer John Polito and Malachi House Executive Director Judy Ghazoul Hilow during his visit.

We are deeply grateful for the kindness, creativity, and support of friends like Del who help brighten our home and community.

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Kalima Ghazoul, beloved mother of Malachi House Executive Director Judy Ghazoul Hilow.

A devoted “Tata” to her eighteen grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother, Kalima will be remembered for her warmth, humor, timeless style, strength, and her deeply welcoming spirit.

We are holding Judy and her entire family, along with all who loved Kalima, close in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

In her memory, the family suggests contributions to St. Maron Church Building Fund or Malachi House.

Kalima’s obituary can be found below:

So grateful for Community West Foundation!

Community West Foundation is proud to support Malachi House, whose mission is to meet residents’ basic needs—food, shelter, clothing, and comfort—during one of life’s most vulnerable moments. Malachi House provides a loving home for individuals who are terminally ill, have limited or no financial resources, and have nowhere else to go. Residents are welcomed into a space where their final days are met with comfort, respect, and human connection.

The campus is also the location where you can find the When I Was Naked sculpture, part of our Matthew 25 Collection. This illustrates the vulnerability of the poor and those who live without their basic needs being met.
