Malachi House

Malachi House Malachi House cares for the terminally ill in Cleveland who have no caregiver or no available funds to pay for care. We are supported by donations only.

Nestled in historic Ohio City, our Home provides comfort to those in the final stages of their lives in a setting that was originally four row houses donated to St. Malachi Church. More than 100,000 volunteer hours were donated to the gutting and complete reconstruction of these houses into a warm and comfortable home that includes private bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a chapel plus acti

vity rooms. Over the past 32 years, Malachi House has served as a final home for over 2500 people, caring for 15 of them at a time.

A huge thank you to our wonderful Associate Board members (and therapy dog, Hank) for spending their morning with our residents this past Sunday.

Between the donuts and conversation, it was a wonderful opportunity to connect, share stories, and enjoy some simple moments of joy together.

We're so grateful for the time, kindness, and energy our Associate Board brings to our community.

Thank you for making the day a little brighter, and a little sweeter! šŸ©

Today was an extra special day at Malachi House as we celebrated the birthday of our resident, Kathleen.

Kathleen was a longtime server at Pier W, and for her birthday, her daughter picked up one of Kathleen’s favorite meals. In a beautiful gesture, Pier W generously provided the meal complimentary in honor of her special day.

Moments like these remind us how meaningful it is to share life’s milestones together with residents, their families, staff, volunteers, and our hospice teams.

Special thanks to Reserve Care for being a part of the celebration and providing the cake! šŸŽ‚

Happy Birthday, Kathleen!

Our Executive Director, Judy Ghazoul Hilow, was honored to be a panel speaker at the Meonske Conference at Kent State University, leading breakout sessions on grant writing and bringing both her nonprofit leadership and finance and accounting background.

One of our former volunteers Jim Bares, Sr. Vice President & Sr. Client Service Director at Robert Half Management Resources was the premier sponsor for the event.

We are proud to see Judy bring the mission and leadership of Malachi House into conversations with professionals and leaders from across the nonprofit and finance sectors.

Now celebrating the 50th anniversary of the conference, the event was founded by and named in honor of retired Kent State professor Norm Meonske. The Meonske Conference has become a nationally respected gathering for accounting and finance professionals, bringing together leaders from across industries for continuing education and professional development.

A heartfelt thank you to donor and friend of Malachi House, Del Younglas, for capturing a truly beautiful moment outside our home, a rainbow shining directly above Malachi House. 🌈

Del thoughtfully converted the image to canvas before gifting it to us in person. He was welcomed by volunteer John Polito and Malachi House Executive Director Judy Ghazoul Hilow during his visit.

We are deeply grateful for the kindness, creativity, and support of friends like Del who help brighten our home and community.
