Malachi House

Malachi House Malachi House cares for the terminally ill in Cleveland who have no caregiver or no available funds to pay for care. We are supported by donations only.

Nestled in historic Ohio City, our Home provides comfort to those in the final stages of their lives in a setting that was originally four row houses donated to St. Malachi Church. More than 100,000 volunteer hours were donated to the gutting and complete reconstruction of these houses into a warm and comfortable home that includes private bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a chapel plus acti

vity rooms. Over the past 32 years, Malachi House has served as a final home for over 2500 people, caring for 15 of them at a time.

Kindness is often found in the little things.

A special thank you to a dear friend of Malachi House, Teresa Andreani, for bringing yarn to our resident, Lillie, who enjoys spending her time crocheting.

Thoughtful gestures like this help make Malachi House feel even more like home.

Teresa is also a volunteer with Sew4Service, a service-minded community dedicated to creating positive change by enriching lives and protecting the environment through the practice and preservation of textile arts.

We’re so grateful for Teresa’s generosity and for all the good that Sew4Service brings to our community.

The care we provide doesn’t end at the moment of passing.

One of our most meaningful traditions is memorializing each resident with a beautiful white blanket and pillow embroidered with the words, “Forever in Our Hearts.” A heart-shaped pillow and a single rose, inspired by our patron, St. Thérèse of Lisieux, serve as gentle reminders that every life is honored, remembered, and deeply loved.

A heartfelt thank you to our Clinical Manager, Deborah Lanzo, volunteer Bonnie Cooper, and Morgan Linens for helping refresh and preserve this beautiful tradition for the families we serve. 🌹

For the past 32 years, Malachi House has been proud to have PNC as our banking partner. Their longstanding partnership and support have been invaluable to our mission, and we are grateful for the relationship we’ve built together.

Our Executive Director, Judy Ghazoul Hilow, and Volunteer and Community Coordinator, Martha Cromleigh, had the pleasure to join PNC at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo for a wonderful meal and meaningful conversations about the future alongside fellow nonprofit leaders.

Thank you to PNC and the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo for your generous hospitality and for bringing our nonprofit community together for such a special afternoon - made even more memorable by a beautiful rainbow.

Through the vision and generosity of Malachi House board member John Sullivan and his wife, Jean Sullivan, residents of Malachi House have the opportunity to be interred at the historic and beautiful Lake View Cemetery in the Malachi House Vault.

This meaningful option helps ease both the emotional and financial burden that often accompanies end-of-life arrangements for residents and their loved ones.

This past weekend, we gathered for our Annual Celebration of Life to honor and remember the residents we lost over the past year. Family members and friends joined us at Wade Chapel for a touching memorial service featuring welcoming remarks from Malachi House Executive Director Judy Ghazoul Hilow and a reflection and blessing from Rev. Fr. Patrick Kassab of Saint Maron Church.

We are deeply grateful to our friends at Lake View Cemetery, our board members, volunteers, staff, families, and supporters who joined us in celebrating the lives and memories of our residents.
