What a wonderful evening at the Carpenter House Museum! We thoroughly enjoyed Ken Kladnik’s presentation on the Slovenian history of the Upper County. His knowledge, stories, and passion for preserving local history made for a fascinating program. Thank you, Ken, for sharing this important chapter of our community’s heritage, and thanks to all who attended and helped make the evening a success!

***THROWBACK THURSDAY***
With "fire" season here, it seemed appropriate to share a couple of historic photos from Cle Elum's large group of dapper volunteer firemen, taken in 1910.
For more historic photos, please go to our website or visit our two museums (Carpenter House and Telephone Museum).

We are excited to announce that Ken Kladnik will be our speaker for the next Summer Speaker Series at the Carpenter House Museum, June 18, 2026. Ken will share his stories of "Slovenian History of Upper County."
Once again, this is another chance to learn about local history straight from the storytellers. We had "Italian History in Upper County," as a topic a few years ago, and now looking forward to learning about Slovenian's diverse cultural heritage as well!

***THROWBACK THURSDAY***

This is a great display of family history at the Telephone Museum. Morgan Mohler was a lineman pictured above in the large photo. He married Josepone Stevens, niece of the first governor of the Territory of Washington, Isaac Stevens. Morgan's pole climbing spikes are displayed here as well, and the small, framed photo, is Morgan's grandson Stephen Mohler standing next to his grandpa's photo.
So much local history to see at the Telephone Museum!
Open Tuesday-Saturday, 12-4pm
