Lighthouse For Christ Thrift store, donation drop off, and referral services. Serving Christ in everything we do! Financial help is also available in limited amounts.

The Lighthouse for Christ is a not-for-profit organization that began in 1989. It operates through a God-given vision to give temporary and emergency assistance to those in Clay County that are in need. It is supported solely by donations from churches, individuals, civic groups and the general public. We are blessed with a volunteer work force who, guided by the unselfish desire to serve, offer the best within themselves to ensure that all families in our community can look forward to a better tomorrow. We are committed to helping provide food and clothing, as well as some household items and furniture. These services are offered with a required pastors signature. The Thrift Store assures that everyone's needs can be met and then some! We trust all who enter feel God's love and welcome everyone to stop by!!

Mrs. Shannon's kindergarten class at Lincoln Elementary did their "V for Vegetables" food drive a couple weeks ago. Lighthouse Director Susan Melton and Lighthouse Board Chair Angie Frigon went to pick up the food. What a wonderful way to teach students about being part of a community. We are excited about all the awesome veggies to stock our shelves, thank you, Mrs. Shannon and kindergarteners!

Today is a federal holiday, but The Lighthouse is still OPEN from Noon to 3 pm.

Our Volunteer Spotlight this month is Elaine Beswick!

===

How long have you been a volunteer at The Lighthouse?
Since 2024.

What is your role?
I go through books, glassware, and miscellaneous items. I price them and put them out on the shelves.

Why do you volunteer?
I leave here with a good feeling every day. And I enjoy helping people who need it. The people I work with are great!

===

As with quite a few of our volunteers, Elaine doesn't only volunteer at The Lighthouse. You also may see her when you enter Clay County Medical Center!
Thank you Elaine for sharing your friendly presence with us!

October's pantry needs! Remember, we are so thankful for ALL food donations. If you are able to take into consideration the nutrition guidelines we shared this week, you may give yourself a gold star! 😉 🌟

So for example, canned fruit in 100% juice, not syrup. Canned meat in water, not oil. And canned beans with low or no sodium.
