One of the things that makes the City of Clarkston so special is our incredible diversity. With residents representing more than 70 countries, we are truly a community where the world comes together.
It was wonderful to see members of our Rohingya community exercising their right to vote at the Clarkston Library!
For a community whose history includes displacement, persecution, and the denial of citizenship rights, the opportunity for eligible Rohingya Americans to participate in our democratic process carries special significance.
As Mayor of one of the most diverse cities in America, I believe that true inclusion goes beyond welcoming people into our community. It means ensuring they have opportunities to participate, be represented, and have their voices heard.
Our international communities contribute so much to the cultural, social, and economic fabric of Clarkston. Their perspectives and experiences are essential to building a community where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
I am especially proud to see members of our Rohingya community engaged in the democratic process and exercising a right that should never be taken for granted.
Whether through voting, community advocacy, volunteering, or civic leadership, everyone has an opportunity to help shape our collective future.
Democracy is stronger when our communities are informed, engaged, and empowered.
🌍 Different Cultures. Different Languages. One Community. Every Voice Matters!
