🍎 In town for the parade tonight? Come taste apples with us!

We've got plenty of heirloom apples — 19 varieties — at The Well Collaborative NH, 72 Pleasant Street, tonight until 7:30 PM. It's a self-guided tasting, so swing by during or after the parade!

🚗 PARKING UPDATE for tonight's apple tasting ⚠️

The Claremont Fireman's Parade steps off at 6:30 tonight, and parking along Pleasant Street is going to be tight. If you're coming to the tasting, please plan to come early!

Best bets for parking close to the building:
• The Claremont Savings Bank, Citizens Bank, and Mascoma Bank lots
• Downtown public lots — behind the old Latchis Theatre building on Pleasant Street, or off Broad Street by the American Legion
• The Family Dollar lot

🚪 Entrance: use the side garden entrance on the Pleasant Street side of the building — we'll have signs out to guide you.

🍎 The event: Beyond Honeycrisp: An Heirloom Apple Tasting — tonight, 6–7 PM at The Well Collaborative NH, 72 Pleasant Street. Come anytime between 5:45 and 7:00; the tasting is self-guided, so no need to stay the whole hour. 19 heirloom varieties to sample, plus Cabot cheeses and hot mulled c***r.

What do these curious names have in common?

They’re apples!

Beyond Honeycrisp: An Heirloom Apple Tasting is an opportunity to explore the remarkable diversity of locally grown heirloom apples.

Guests will taste and compare a selection of unusual heirloom varieties — apples you’re unlikely to encounter on a typical supermarket shelf. From sweet and aromatic to tart, spicy, crisp, and complex, the tasting will offer an opportunity to discover just how different one apple can be from another.

Along the way, we’ll explore some of the stories, history, flavors, and traditional uses behind these varieties and the role heirloom fruit plays in our local and regional food system.

Cheese will also be available to enjoy during the tasting.

Some of the heirloom varieties that may be represented include Pitmaston Pineapple, Reine des Reinettes, Cox’s Orange Pippin, Seek No Further, Maiden’s Blush, Winter Banana, Blue Pearmain, and Esopus Spitzenburg.

The exact selection will depend on this year’s harvest and availability.

For those able to give a little extra and help make community events like this accessible to everyone.
