What a busy week it’s been at Claremont Elks Lodge 879!

On Wednesday night we had the privilege of awarding $36,000 in scholarships to five deserving Stevens High School seniors. Congratulations to Malachi Caple, Scott Hagar, Ethan Murphy, Miles Sheehan and Edison Sohngen.

The parboil crew was hard at work Thursday afternoon getting ready for our annual chicken barbecue. The prep work continued on Friday night to ensure that the Saturday crew had everything they needed.

5 AM came pretty early yesterday, but that’s what time our volunteers started arriving at the lodge to ensure that we were ready to serve our returning alumni and parade goers.

From Thursday -Saturday, our members volunteered 169.5 hours!!! That says so much about our lodge and our commitment to the four cardinal principles of being an Elk; Charity,Justice, Brotherly Love, and Fidelity.

It’s with heartfelt gratitude and appreciation that I thank not only the countless members who have volunteered this week, but also our hard-working bartending staff, it truly takes a village!

Fraternally yours,
Todd M Abbey
Exalted Ruler
Claremont Elks Lodge # 879.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has celebrated Flag Day since 1908, honoring the American flag with ceremonies, parades, and community events nationwide.

The Elks were the first fraternal organization to formally observe Flag Day, establishing June 14 as a day to honor the American flag.

Our commitment to patriotism helped elevate Flag Day to national recognition: President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed it in 1916, and in 1949, President Harry S. Truman, an Elks member, signed legislation permanently recognizing it as a national observance

This year Claremont Elks Lodge #879 will celebrate Flag Day on Monday June 15 at our regularly scheduled meeting at 6pm ~ PLEASE SHARE 🇺🇸

Ok members of #879– big day tomorrow and weather is looking awesome finally! We got a good numbers of volunteers ! A couple of notes— all members not working for the bbq need to be in the designated area which is in the other side of the grilles. No smoking behind the yellow tape which will be posted. Let’s have an awesome day and enjoy the festivities! Hope to see a great turn out for the longest active high school alumni! Hard to believe this is my 35th!

Since 1963, Copper Cannon Camp has been the only camp in New Hampshire to provide a completely free traditional summer camp experience to all children who deserve it. In the summer of 2023, they celebrated their 60th and over those 6 decade, the camp has served more than 25,000 youth.

On Saturday, members Courtney, Ken, Eileen and everyone's favorite Elk -In -Training, Jaxon, traveled up to Bethlehem, NH bright and early to participate in annual Copper Cannon Green Up Day!

We are looking forward to sending many happy campers again this year in July 🏕️
