Join us for a special exhibit from Michael Graves - End of the Trail: Route 66 Through California!

Michael Graves is a photographer with over four decades of experience specializing in commercial, industrial, and fine art photography.

This exhibit is a continuation of his exploration of Route 66, following the final miles and 100th anniversary of the Mother Road. It was created over a decade, with the photographs documenting motels, weathered signs, abandoned buildings, and the painted "66" shield. This work preserves the physical remnants of Route 66 after one hundred years, with the road completing its westward journey.

Graves' work has been exhibited at the Chaffey Community Museum of Art and will now be showcased here at the Garner House!

Opening Reception: Saturday, July 11, 2026 | 5-8 PM
Location: Ginger Elliott Gallery (Memorial Park) | 840 N Indian Hill Blvd Claremont, CA 91711

For more than 55 years, Lautner practiced architecture, designing unusual and unique residences in and near Los Angeles, including Silvertop, the Chemosphere, the Sheats/Goldstein residence, the Levy residence, and the Elrod residence (Palm Springs, CA), as well as many others around the world. He was also responsible for the innovative design of some restaurants (Henry's, Googies, Tiny Naylor's).

Many people don't know that famed mid-century architectural photographer, Julius Shulman was very active in the Pomona Valley where he photographed over 40 projects designed by Criley/ McDowell, Richard Neutra, Edward Durell Stone and many others.

Narrated by Dustin Hoffman, VISUAL ACOUSTICS celebrates the life and career of Julius Shulman, the world s greatest architectural photographer, whose images brought modern architecture to the American mainstream. Shulman captured the work of nearly every major modern and progressive architect since the 1930s including Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, John Lautner and Frank Gehry. His images epitomized the singular beauty of Southern California s modernist movement and brought its iconic structures to the attention of the general public. This unique film is both a testament to the evolution of modern architecture and a joyful portrait of the magnetic, whip-smart gentleman who chronicled it with his unforgettable images. Run Time: 80 minutes

Following the screening a Q&A with David Shearer, Executive Director, Claremont Heritage.
