re you passionate about or interested in technology use in our schools? CUSD is forming a new Parent & Staff Technology Committee and we hope you’ll consider joining! 🌱

No need to be a technology expert! If you’re interested in learning, sharing experiences, considering different viewpoints, and collaborating to support student-centered technology practices, apply!

CUSD is looking for parents and guardians representing different schools, grades, experiences and perspectives to join staff for ongoing conversations around educational technology, including 🤖 artificial intelligence, 📱 classroom technology use, 🔐 online safety, 🌎 digital citizenship, equity, 💡 innovative learning, and other emerging technology issues.

📅 First Meeting: September 16, 2026
📅 Second Meeting: January 13, 2027
➕ One additional meeting is expected later in the school year.

🌿 Get Involved at Sycamore! 🌿

Did you know that Sycamore’s Governance Council (SGC) serves as both our Parent Faculty Association and our School Site Council? We meet monthly to discuss all sorts of topics, such as academic outcomes, curriculum goals, and classroom technology. We also organize the fundraising that supports arts instruction, classroom materials, field trips, assemblies, Outdoor Science School for 6th graders, and so much more! 🎨📚🚌

💚 Everyone in the Sycamore community is welcome! Students, parents, faculty, alumni, and community members are all encouraged to participate. Whether you’re brand new to Sycamore or have been part of our community for years, there’s a place for you!

Our TKs proudly donned their vintage green and gold Sycamore shirts this week. This year’s school shirt offers a new way to show school spirit. The design of our shirt changes each year, and both child and adult sizes are available! We will pre-order this year’s Sycamore gear. Simply scan the QR code or see the link in bio to order via Cheddar Up. All orders need to be placed by Friday, September 11. The gear is expected to arrive by the first of October. A portion of all sales returns to our school as a fundraiser.

Tuesday, August 11
• New Student Tours: 9:00–9:45 AM
• TK Meet & Greet: 10:00–11:00 AM
(New TK families: Please check your email from Mrs. Stanger for details.)

Tuesday, August 18 – Back to School Night (Grown-ups only, please!)
• TK–3rd Grade: 5:15–6:00 PM
• 4th–6th Grade: 6:00–6:45 PM
• New Family Presentations (MPR): 5:15 PM & 6:00 PM

Wednesday, August 19 – First Day of School! 🎒
• 8:10 AM – Welcome Bell
• 8:15 AM – All students should be in their classrooms
• 8:15–9:00 AM – Parent & Caregiver Coffee Social on the front lawn ☕

Looking for a way to get more involved at Sycamore this year? THIS is your sign! ✨

Our Governance Council (PFA) is looking to fill several volunteer roles for the 2026/27 school year, and we’d love to have you join us.

Whether you’re a brand-new Sycamore family or have been part of our community for years, there’s a place for you. No experience necessary! Just a willingness to help, connect with other families, and make a positive impact on our school.

Open Opportunities:

💚 Co-Facilitator (Vice President)
Partner with our Facilitator, Rachel, to help lead our Governance Council and oversee next year’s nominating committee. This role involves a brief monthly planning meeting.

🌎 Equity & Inclusion Chair
Help foster a welcoming and inclusive school community by listening to families and leading conversations that support diversity and equity at Sycamore.

📱 Social Media Support
Love taking photos, making reels, or creating content? Help our Communications Co-Chair capture special moments, create social media posts, and keep our pages looking fresh and engaging. We’d love to have a few people join this team!

🎉 Event Chairs
Do you have a favorite Sycamore event? Have ideas for this year’s Family Dance, Sycamore Celebrates, or our Book Fairs? Help plan and bring our beloved traditions to life!
