Camp 1:27 is a ministry of Raleigh’s Place. It is a summer camp for children in foster care, relative placement, or adoption. There is plenty to do at Camp 1:27.

Loving the Fatherless. Raleigh’s Place Camp 1:27 is our annual summer camp program for foster children, children in relative placement, and adopted children. Over the years we have served hundreds of children from all over the state of Alabama. Camp 1:27 exists to Live the Gospel by Loving Fatherless as we seek to give every single one of ou

r campers the best week of their life. Camp 1:27 is tucked away in a gorgeous wooded area. We have been blessed to have great facilities including cabins, picnic pavilion, fire pit and amphitheater, dining facility, two pools, and a large multipurpose area. We also have many hiking trails available for the adventurous. Many of our campers truly have the best time of their life. Camp 1:27 believes in fun. We pack every minute of every day with great activities you can only find in a camp setting. We will spend many hours swimming in our pools, playing Gaga ball, shooting bows and arrows, creating beautiful arts/crafts, tubing/fishing at the lake, and so much more. Camp 1:27 is not just all about fun. We firmly believe that the best life includes a relationship with Jesus Christ. We are committed to teaching our campers God’s Word. We have several different Bible studies throughout the day and chapel every night. If anything is going to change the lives of our campers, it will be the gospel. Looking for a meaningful way to serve this fall?

We will not pretend we have it all figured out. What we have is a thrift store that runs on volunteer hands, foster homes that need practical backup, and a camp that starts recruiting long before summer.

Ways people plug in:

▪️Sorting, tagging, and merchandising donations at Katie's Kloset
▪️Assembling food and household boxes for Partner Homes households
▪️Encouraging a foster or adoptive family in your own church
▪️Praying for our staff, our kids, and the caseworkers in Chilton County

You don't need a background in social work. You need a couple of hours and a willing spirit.

Back-to-school season is here, and Katie's Kloset is watching kids' sizes fly off the racks.

If you are clearing out closets this month, a few things go the furthest:

▪️Children's clothing in every size, gently used or new
▪️Shoes and sneakers that still have miles left in them
▪️Backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and folders
▪️Jackets and hoodies for the cool mornings coming in October

Drop-offs happen Monday through Saturday, 8:30 to 4:00, at 1010 Lay Dam Road in Clanton.

Summer gets busy, and we know volunteering can slow down when everyone is on the go. As families settle back into school routines, this is a great time to plug back in and make a difference with Raleigh’s Place.

Our foster care ministry in Clanton depends on volunteers year-round, and there are so many meaningful ways to serve right now:

• Partner Homes support — Help encourage foster families in Chilton County through practical assistance and relational support.
• Camp 1:27 involvement — Use your gifts to serve at our Christ-centered camp, whether through activities, logistics, or mentoring.
• Katie’s Kloset help — Sort clothing donations and assist families as they find essentials at no cost.
• Workmanship Initiative mentorship — Walk alongside teens in our transitional living program as they learn life skills and grow in confidence.

Whether you took a break this summer or you’re thinking about volunteering with us for the first time, we’re grateful you’re here. Our ministry simply wouldn’t be possible without the hands and hearts of our community.

Did you know a foster family in Chilton County can walk into Katie's Kloset and outfit their kids for the school year without paying a dime?

That has been the point since 2017, when this started as a small closet of donated items for local foster homes. Hundreds of Alabama children later, the doors are still open.

What you will find inside:

▪️Free clothing for children in foster care
▪️Shelves and rooms of secondhand goods for the public: toys, furniture, appliances
▪️Fresh inventory put out daily
▪️Every purchase funding programs like Camp 1:27 and Partner Homes

Our Workmanship Initiative walks alongside older foster youth and young adults, helping them build life skills, grow in confidence, and prepare for the future with encouragement and mentorship.

For many youth aging out of foster care, turning 21 can feel like stepping into adulthood without a safety net. At Raleigh’s Place, our Workmanship Initiative exists to change that.

We walk alongside young adults as they pursue stability and independence, offering life-skills training, education support, workforce development, mentorship, and transitional living opportunities right here in Chilton County.

Our team is committed to removing barriers today so these young men and women can step confidently into hopeful futures.
