Camp 1:27 is a ministry of Raleigh’s Place. It is a summer camp for children in foster care, relative placement, or adoption. There is plenty to do at Camp 1:27.

Through our camp ministry, we want to Live the Gospel by
Loving the Fatherless. Raleigh’s Place Camp 1:27 is our annual summer camp program for foster children, children in relative placement, and adopted children. Over the years we have served hundreds of children from all over the state of Alabama. Camp 1:27 exists to Live the Gospel by Loving Fatherless as we seek to give every single one of our campers the best week of their life. Camp 1:27 is tucked away in a gorgeous wooded area. We have been blessed to have great facilities including cabins, picnic pavilion, fire pit and amphitheater, dining facility, two pools, and a large multipurpose area. We also have many hiking trails available for the adventurous. Many of our campers truly have the best time of their life. Camp 1:27 believes in fun. We pack every minute of every day with great activities you can only find in a camp setting. We will spend many hours swimming in our pools, playing Gaga ball, shooting bows and arrows, creating beautiful arts/crafts, tubing/fishing at the lake, and so much more. Camp 1:27 is not just all about fun. We firmly believe that the best life includes a relationship with Jesus Christ. We are committed to teaching our campers God’s Word. We have several different Bible studies throughout the day and chapel every night. If anything is going to change the lives of our campers, it will be the gospel. October has a way of flying by, and here we are at Halloween already. We hope the season has been treating you well.

Whether you're spending the evening making rounds through the neighborhood, hosting friends, or simply enjoying the night from your front porch with a bowl of candy, we hope you have a safe and happy Halloween.

Heading out for trick-or-treating this year?

A few reminders before the sun goes down:

▪️Add something reflective to the costume, even if it ruins the aesthetic. Tape, a glow stick, or a light-up bracelet works.
▪️Agree on the route before you leave, and pick a landmark to meet at if anyone gets separated.
▪️Costumes that cover the eyes are a bigger hazard than they look. Face paint beats a mask.
▪️Cross at corners and crosswalks with the group together. Mid-block dashes are where things go wrong.

For foster and adoptive parents: a loud, crowded, sensory-heavy night can go sideways fast. An early exit is a fine plan, and so is skipping the whole thing.

At Raleigh’s Place, we believe every young person deserves a steady hand, a safe place to grow, and people who cheer them on as they step into adulthood. That’s what our Workmanship Initiative is all about.

Through mentorship, life skills training, and transitional living support, we walk alongside foster youth as they discover who they are and the future God has for them. These relationships matter, and we see hope take root every day.

Fall in Chilton County means festivals, ball games, chili cook-offs, and roughly four hundred church events.

It is also a season when foster and adoptive homes feel stretched thin. New school routines, holidays coming into view, and placements that shift with no notice.

Simple ways to encourage one of these families this season:

▪️Save them a seat at whatever your church is hosting
▪️Offer to drive a kid to practice on a night that is already too full
▪️Drop off a rotisserie chicken and a bag of apples, no explanation needed
▪️Say the thing out loud: "You are doing a good job."

None of that requires a committee.

As the year winds down, we’re taking time to reflect on all the ways our community has helped us serve foster children and families across Chilton County and beyond. Your support has strengthened Raleigh’s Place and fueled programs like Camp 1:27, Katie’s Kloset, our Partner Homes, and the Workmanship Initiative.

NEW LOGO. SAME MISSION.

Raleigh’s Place has a new look!

Our updated logo simplifies the design we have used for years while keeping the heart of it intact: the cross of Christ at the center, surrounded by people in community.

The four figures also reflect the four pillars that guide our ministry:

Strengthen the Family. Encourage the Child. Equip the Young Adult. Engage the Community.

The logo is new. The mission is not.

Fall is on the way, and Katie’s Kloset is getting ready to support foster children and families as the cooler weather arrives. 🍂

This season, we’re looking for gently used fall and winter clothing to help kids across Chilton County feel warm, confident, and cared for. Every coat, pair of jeans, or cozy sweater helps us live out our mission of loving and supporting the fatherless through practical, meaningful resources.

Happy Pastor Appreciation Month to the folks who have made room for the fatherless in their pulpits and their budgets!

Foster care in Alabama is not only a government problem. It is a question the Church gets to answer. And in Chilton County, congregations have answered by wrapping around households nobody assigned them: meals delivered at odd hours, nursery volunteers trained to be patient with a child who startles easily, offerings that keep our shelves stocked and a camper's week paid for.

Pastors carry that load quietly. They also carry hospital visits, hard phone calls, and their own family's needs, usually in the same week.
