Crayons and Beyond

We held an appreciation lunch today for the inmates at Lebanon Correctional Institution (LeCI), part of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction and long-time partners in our Crafts with Conviction program. This program would not be the success is today without their hard work and dedication. Thousands of their handmade, educational items can be found in hundreds of classrooms throughout the Tri-State area. We could not be more grateful to the folks at LeCI for their continued support, time and talents. Area teachers and students thank you!

We received a generous donation today from The Blenk Team. They donated a portion of each home closing from the past month to support student success, and we are honored they continue to choose Crayons as their beneficiary, year after year. Thank you! Area teachers and students are grateful, too.

The Lebanon Correctional Institution (LeCI), a long-time partner in our Crafts with Conviction program, surprised us today with a generous Push 4 Pencils donation. The entire staff at LeCI, in honor of our country’s 250th Birthday, and in support of educational advancement of children in need, decided to collect school supplies for the teachers and students we serve. Members of their executive team, including Warden Michael Marinich and Community Service Coordinator Dee Sears, presented Crayons with 2,655 school supplies, which included supply-filled backpacks. We could not be more grateful to the folks at LeCI for their continued support and generous donation. Area teachers and students thank you!

Thank you to WCPO 9 and Kristen Skovira for sharing our mission and awareness of the community-wide need with the community.

Crayons and Beyond’s flagship store serves teachers at schools where at least 55% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. The program serves educators working with students from pre-K through 12th grade.

“When you're struggling to make ends meet in your family, school supplies is not the first thing on your list,” Eismin-Henry said. “If you're trying to make sure that you have food on the table, being able to get all those supplies that you need for your student is not a top priority.”

Meet Treavon! You may recognize the smiling face he’s holding. That’s him in 2nd Grade, as the face of Crayons’ annual Push 4 Pencils campaign. This fall, he will begin his studies at the University of Cincinnati, majoring in finance before pursuing a teaching degree at Xavier University. Crayons is proud to support Treavon on his college journey, and we wish him the very best.
