We're a few days late getting this post out, but the message is still just as important:
Let's think and act BEFORE the crisis, because missing children stories usually start beforehand.
Maybe that youth is fleeing violence, instability, neglect, or isolation. Maybe they're being groomed, manipulated, or pulled into exploitation through promises of love, belonging, safety, or support.
You can look for vulnerability in everyday moments:
- a student withdrawing,
- a young person searching for connection online,
- someone feeling unseen, unsupported, or unsafe.
Prevention starts with trusted relationships.
With conversations.
With adults paying attention.
With communities creating spaces where youth feel safe, valued, and connected.
On International Missing Children’s Day, we remember that awareness matters, and connection matters too.
Learn the signs.
Talk to the youth in your life.
Stay connected. Stay present. 💜
