Only days away!!! 💙 Volunteer Montgomery is excited to participate in the Community Foundation of the New River Valley Give Local NRV event. This 24-hour giving event will take place from noon on June 24 to noon on June 25.

All donations made will help support Volunteer Montgomery’s in-house projects, including Supplies for Seniors, Holiday Tote Bags, and more. Donations will also be accepted in person via cash or check.

Joey Thacker works with the New River Valley Community Services as the Co-Response Coordinator/Law Enforcement. He will be presenting at Volunteer Montgomery on the topics of elderly exploitation, the types of scams, and how to respond if you have been exploited.

Karen Anders, our Administrative Assistant and ACCE Coordinator attended his de-escalation training in January. This is what she stated in regards to Joey Thacker's training:
"We hope you will join us here at Volunteer Montgomery for this invaluable training. Joey Thacker is an excellent trainer and, personally, I can’t wait for this training. "

He will be joining us at the Volunteer Montgomery office on June 23 from 10 am- 12 pm. This presentation will be held in the activity room. Please RSVP to the office at 540-382-5775 if you would like to attend.

Bingo is TONIGHT!!Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets already. Extra Bingo cards can be obtained for an additional $5 donation each. Also, we would like to thank Cabo Fish Taco for being our food vendor. We appreciate your support in this event.🌮🌮

These Butterfly Hugs, in conjunction with Spirit FM VA/WV/NC create and decorate butterflies and the ships them to cancer treatment centers, counseling services, hospitals, and individuals in need across Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina. 🦋

Today is the Day! We will be at the Christiansburg Rec Center at 1:30 for TRIAD/S.A.L.T.'s Ice Cream Social! 🍨🍨

During the event, we will be making crafts for the Butterfly Hugs Project. These Butterfly Hugs, in conjunction with Spirit FM VA/WV/NC create and decorate butterflies and the ships them to cancer treatment centers, counseling services, hospitals, and individuals in need across Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina. 🦋🦋

Don't forget to report your volunteer hours with us! ⌚

Our program thrives and exists because of your service hours to our community. we are generously funded by the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors because of all of the reports we send about projects and hours that our volunteers provide each year.

‼️ It is also important to submit at least 1 hour of volunteerism for every 6 months to stay active in our system.

‼️Organizations that have signed up as a group will only need one person to submit their hour(s) of service along with noting the # of participants from the group.

We would like to thank the Christiansburg Lions Club for being a Platinum Sponsor of Volunteer Montgomery. One of the main projects that all Lions Clubs focus on is improving the lives of those who are visually impaired and preventing avoidable blindness. Christiansburg Lions Club has eyeglass collection boxes throughout the community. Collected eyeglasses are taken to the Roanoke Eyeglass Recycling facility and are processed for global distribution to those who may not be able to afford or have access to eyeglasses. They also do vision testing for children in Montgomery County Public Schools on an annual basis. 👓👓

In addition to their vision service projects, they also do work with local children’s hospitals and support various initiatives to alleviate hunger throughout the New River Valley.

Thank you for all of the work you all do in the community and supporting local. 💛💙
