Recipe books are $15 with all proceeds benefitting Volunteer Montgomery's community programs such as Supplies for Seniors, Valentines for Veterans, and Patriot Day Baskets. ❤

Come out to Volunteer Montgomery's annual Bake Sale fundraiser on September 15 to buy some delicious goodies! We will have many homemade cakes, pies, brownies, and other baked goods to choose from, thanks to our wonderful volunteer bakers. 🍪🍞

The event will be held in the lobby at the Montgomery County Government Center! All proceeds support our in-house community projects at Volunteer Montgomery 🧁🧁

Our September supply drive is in collaboration with Blacksburg Junior Women's Club. Each year, they collect diapers for community members and will donate them to the Montgomery County Christmas Store . The list of items requested is in the flyer.
*We are accepting open boxes of diapers if a child has outgrown a size!

Please drop off all donations to our office by September 30. Blacksburg Junior Women's Club's flyer is also attached. *They will be collecting supplies until November 20.

September's evening & weekend volunteer opportunities are below 🍁

AARP and the Town of Christiansburg is hosting a benefits fair on Wednesday, September 16 at the Christiansburg Rec Center. Volunteers are needed on Tuesday, Sept. 15 @ 1 pm and Wednesday, Sept. 16 @ 9 am - 11 am. Please contact the Volunteer Montgomery office if you can help.

Volunteer Montgomery's evening event is on September 29 from 5-7 PM. We will be making patriotic crafts & cards for local Veterans. Please call the Volunteer Montgomery office if you would like to sign up. 💙

Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech is requesting volunteers for their school matinee series. The next show for volunteers is on October 14. If you are able to volunteer, you MUST sign up four weeks in advance. Volunteers are needed at Agape Center food pantry. This is an ongoing opportunity on Wednesdays & Fridays from 12-4 PM and the third Saturday of each month from 9 am- 12 pm. For any questions or sign up to help, email at [email protected] or call the Agape office at 540-251-5646.

The American Red Cross's Blacksburg Blood Donation Center is looking for ambassadors. Ambassadors commit to at least one 4-hour shift per month, with additional shifts available if desired. Two of our volunteers helped Literacy NRV this past week. They had so much fun making wands for their 5K race that is occurring tomorrow. Thank you for you hard work!

This is where the magic happens! 🪄🏃

We are so grateful for these extraordinary wandmakers, Sarah Carter and Rosetta Reed-Steele! They have been working so hard crafting beautiful and unique magic wands for our racers at Once Upon a 5K. Their process is so creative and every single one is unique (unicorn hair and phoenix feathers not included)! Wands will be guaranteed for the first 150 racers. This is one of our most beloved race traditions and we couldn't do it without these amazing artists.

This week, we donated 11 pounds of vegetables from our Community Garden to Agape Center NRV . Throughout the month of August, we have donated 48 pounds of food!! We are so glad to donate our fresh food to Agape that directly goes back in helping our community. A big thank you to our volunteers for maintaining the garden through the season. We could not do it without you all! 💙🍅

Update as of 10:45 a.m., we have less than 10 tickets remaining!! You are able to purchase tickets in the Volunteer Montgomery office or online. It is always good to support local.

We still have tickets left! Volunteer Montgomery is selling car wash tickets for Tidal Wave. Each ticket is $10. A single wash is valued at $30 for only $10! 🚗 All funds raised will go into the Volunteer Montgomery Fundraising pool. These funds are used throughout the year to support various projects that give back to the community. Some examples of these programs include our scholarship, Supplies for Senior Project, Patriot Day baskets & so many more projects that we do throughout the year to support the local community! ✨
