The Levy County Quilt Museum is thrilled to announce a double birthday celebration on July 1st!

Mark your calendars for this special day as we celebrate two very important birthdays: the 35th anniversary of the Levy County Quilt Museum and the 4th of July, Independence Day.

Join us at the Levy County Quilt Museum in Chiefland, Florida, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. as we honor the quilting heritage and the spirit of America.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported the Museum over the past 35 years. Your love for quilting and dedication to preserving this cherished art form have made this milestone possible.

Come and bring a friend to celebrate 35 wonderful years of quilting history and the spirit of America. We look forward to sharing birthday cake, gifts, and creating lasting memories with you!

Please note that the Museum will be closed on July 3rd and July 4th to allow our volunteers to celebrate with their families and friends.

Tips for Beginners!

Begin with smaller projects. Don’t attempt a king-size quilt until you gain more experience. Instead, consider starting with table runners, baby quilts, place mats or even hot pot holders. These are great sizes to work with and easy to quilt on your sewing machine.

The process of converting units of rectangles, squares, and triangles into blocks remains consistent regardless of the project’s size. Understand how to make the blocks, make a few and reward yourself with a completed project that you can be proud of.

Summer and Quilting — a Perfect Pair!
There’s just something special about summertime in Florida… slices of cold watermelon, porch conversations, and a quilt pattern coming to life awaiting the next stitch.

Quilting has always been part of summer memories — sewing in the cool morning hours, sharing fabric and stories with friends, and creating colorful quilts as bright as a watermelon patch in June.

This season, take a little time to slow down:Enjoy a sweet slice of watermelonFinish a UFO projectVisit with quilting friendsMake memories one stitch at a time

At the Levy County Quilt Museum, we love celebrating the simple joys that bring people together — summer sunshine, good company, and quilts made with love.

Yesterday, the museum was filled with the delightful aroma of freshly baked bread, cinnamon rolls, and an array of other delectable treats.

Thank you, Penny, for sharing your expertise and teaching the Best Bread Workshop. Witnessing the diverse applications of your recipe in creating pepperoni rolls, dinner rolls, pizza, herb bread, sandwich bread, and even donuts was truly inspiring.

The entire audience was captivated by your culinary creations, and many of the students actively participated, crafting their own masterpieces to take home. Yet the highlight of the day was undoubtedly savoring your creations during lunch.
