We were honored to attend the NAWDP - National Association of Workforce Development Professionals 42nd Annual Conference and connect with workforce development leaders from across the country.

A special highlight was celebrating alongside ComEd as the Power Up Academy received NAWDP’s Workforce Program of the Year Award. We’re grateful to be part of a partnership that is creating meaningful career pathways and expanding opportunities for individuals throughout our communities.

We’re proud to share that Revolution Workshop was recognized with the Chicago Building Congress Equity Champion Award 🏆🙌🏽 during the CBC’s historic 70th Anniversary Merit Awards celebration 🎉👏🏽

This honor reflects the dedication of our trainees, staff, employers and community partners who believe that opportunity in the construction industry should be accessible to everyone 🫱🏼‍🫲🏾 We’re grateful to CBC for this recognition and inspired to continue building pathways to careers that change lives 🎊

Jaekob I. is an example of how intentional support and perseverance can lead to meaningful career stability.

He enrolled in the Social Enterprise Program at Revolution Workshop, a member of our network. Revolution Workshop empowers people with skills needed for a career in the construction industry.

Through this program, Jaekob received consistent income while working -— on a house renovation as well as other community projects — which helped him pay his bills while gaining new skills. The program is intentionally designed to remove the pressure of “rushing into the next job” by offering a stable, supportive work environment.

Jaekob worked closely with employment coaches on resume development, interview preparation, and goal-setting. His dedication paid off: Today, Jaekob is thriving as a Production Operator.

Bravo, Jaekob. Your dedication is inspiring!

We’re grateful to have welcomed Brooke DeRenzis, CEO of the National Skills Coalition, to Revolution Workshop’s East Garfield Park workshop.

Together, we discussed the importance of creating workforce systems that expand opportunity, strengthen communities and connect talented individuals to careers that offer long-term economic mobility.

At RW, we see firsthand what happens when people are given access to training, support and a clear pathway into the skilled trades. The determination has always been there but the opportunity has not.

That’s why we’re thankful for organizations like the National Skills Coalition, whose advocacy and leadership help advance policies that make workforce development more equitable and responsive to the needs of workers and employers alike.

Thank you to Brooke and the NSC team for taking the time to visit and learn about our work to spotlight the incredible potential that exists in Chicago’s West and South Side communities. We are proud to stand alongside partners who believe that where you come from should never determine how far you can go.
