Last night, the fellows joined the McKinley Park Development Council for their monthly speaker series. We learned about McKinley Parkways and the Chicago Park District's Rethinking Lawns project. How cool to have two biodiversity initiatives right in our backyard!

"Somehow, these people who were strangers not long ago already feel like people I have known for much longer. I cannot help but wonder how much I would have missed had I not taken this opportunity. I came into Amate expecting to learn about faith-based service and social justice. I did not expect to learn so much about myself through eleven other people with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives."

Be sure to check out Mehreen Shahid's blog post reflecting on the first month of work and community life! We can't wait to see what the next nine months have in store for this cohort 💕🕊💕

Today was the fellows' in-service day! We talked about the importance of sharing the human story and Chicago's history of industry, unions, and environmental activism. Whose stories have impacted thee way you see the world?
