October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Last night, Dionne Nicole Smith, Vice President, Advancement and Community Outreach Manager, Art Sims co-hosted our monthly Guest House Foundation CAN-TV Show. 📺

Dionne and Art had the pleasure of welcoming a special guest, Susan McKenzie, a 25-year-old remission/survivor as of September 20th, a global traveler, and the creator of “Titbits,” helping women understand the importance of signs of Breast Cancer while encouraging women to get their mammogram in honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Tuesday, October 13th also marked the third anniversary of Dionne being told that she had breast cancer. Both Susan and Dionne shared beautiful, heartfelt, and helpful testimonies about being breast cancer survivors and trivers. Their words of encouragement spoke volumes to the listening audience.

On behalf of Team Guest House, we want to extend heartfelt thanks, congratulations, and accolades to the 29 runners who ran for the Guest House Foundation and health equity.

Guest House congratulates Kenyan Amos Kipruto and Ethiopian Hawi Feysa on winning the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. At the same time, Emma Grace Hurley ran the fastest debut marathon in U.S. women’s history.

Guest House is always so grateful to be a Charity Partner of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is proud to have welcomed more than one million runners across its finish line since the event’s founding in 1977.

As Team Guest House gracefully recovers after an action-packed Marathon weekend, we will post more pictures as the week goes on, like the millions of runners.

We can not thank ComEd-Exelon enough for allowing The Guest House Foundation to participate and spread the word about Guest House and our mission. This is our fourth year participating in the employee give-back campaign.
