Updates from Uganda 🇺🇬

It’s a busy time for our students and the ChildrenUP Uganda team!
Secondary school students are in their final term of the school year, with weekly mentoring continuing for the lower classes whenever schedules allow. Mentoring remains at the heart of the ChildrenUP program, providing guidance and encouragement while supporting students’ academic progress and social-emotional well-being. ❤️

Our candidate students are busy preparing for their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exams, while our higher education students are settled into a new semester at Gulu University, Makerere University, Lacor Training Institute, and other institutions. 🎓📚

And another journey is beginning! Our ChildrenUP Uganda team has started the pre-selection process for students who may join the program as Senior One students in 2027.

From secondary school through higher education, we are grateful to support our students along the way. None of this would be possible without our wonderful community of supporters who believe in the power of education and the potential of our students.

🌱 The Next Generation of Philanthropists

Meet Miles, an Elmhurst sixth grader who recently participated in the Elmhurst Children’s Business Fair with his Goods from the Garden booth.

After a successful day—and winning two awards!—Miles decided to donate all of his profits to two charities of his choosing, including ChildrenUP. His mom, Emily, generously matched his donation.

We are so grateful to Miles for choosing to support ChildrenUP and young people in Northern Uganda. His generosity is a wonderful reminder that giving back can begin at any age. ❤️🌍

Thank you, Miles!

🌟 ChildrenUP Alumni Spotlight: Stephen

Stephen's journey reflects how dedication, perseverance, and educational opportunity can build a strong foundation for a meaningful career.

After completing his ordinary level secondary education at St. Joseph's College Layibi, Stephen pursued a Certificate in Pharmacy at Gulu College of Health Sciences, graduating in 2025 through hard work and determination.

Today, Stephen works as a Pharmacy Assistant in Northern Uganda, where he continues to gain valuable experience while building his career in the healthcare field.

His journey is a testament to what can be achieved when hard work, perseverance, and educational opportunity come together. We are incredibly proud of Stephen's accomplishments and grateful to celebrate him as part of our ChildrenUP Alumni Spotlight Series.

Every graduate has a story. This is Stephen's.
