Did you know those old eyeglasses sitting in a drawer could help someone see a brighter tomorrow? 🌎✨

The Elmhurst Lions Club is collecting used eyeglasses to help provide the gift of sight to people in need around the world. Since 1994, the Lions of Illinois Foundation has helped send 5.5 million+ pairs of used eyeglasses around the globe! 👏

♻️ Have a pair (or several!) of old prescription glasses, reading glasses, or sunglasses? Please consider donating them at one of our convenient Elmhurst collection locations.

📍 Drop-off locations include local businesses, healthcare providers, the Elmhurst Public Library, York High School, and , See Your House Right Here.

The Elmhurst Lions Club was proud to cook and serve dinner for 25 guests at Ronald McDonald House Chicagoland & NW Indiana. What a wonderful evening of food, fellowship, and service!

What a fantastic evening at the Elmhurst Lions Club Reverse Raffle! 🦁🎟️

Thank you to everyone who came out, supported us, purchased tickets, donated, volunteered, and helped make this year’s Reverse Raffle such a huge success! ❤️

We had a wonderful time, and we couldn’t have done it without the incredible support of our community and our amazing Lions members. 🥰

But we’re not slowing down! 💪🦁 We’re already moving on to our next big projects:

🦁💙 Elmhurst Lions Club in Action!

This past Saturday, the Elmhurst Lions Club was proud to participate in the Annual Back-to-School, Resource & Health Fair, hosted by Roots and Wings // Alas y Raices, NFP and partnering organizations.

Our Lions volunteers provided hearing and vision screenings to help local families prepare for a healthy and successful school year. 👂👀

What an incredible day of community collaboration, with more than 50 organizations and agencies coming together to serve 300+ families from Elmhurst, Bensenville, and surrounding communities.

We are proud to be part of a community where organizations come together to make a difference. ❤️

🐾 A Day with Leader Dogs at the Beep Ball World Series! 🦮⚾

Hi, my name is Regan, and I’m a senior at York High School. Recently, I had the wonderful opportunity to spend eight hours dog sitting for Leader Dogs at the Beep Ball World Series! While the players were on the field, I kept their amazing guide dogs company. As a dog sitter, while the players were out on the field, their guide dogs needed someone to keep them company, and that someone was me.

I got to hang out with Larson, who is a very big dog, plus Winnie and Jamie, a golden retriever (pictured), who I’m pretty sure would have come home with me if I’d let him. Eight hours went by faster than I expected.

I’m hoping to become a veterinarian someday, so getting to spend a whole day with dogs like these felt like the best kind of practice. Watching how calm and well-trained they were, and seeing how much they mean to the people they work with, made me appreciate what goes into caring for animals even more. Thank you to the Lions for letting me be part of it, I’d sign up again in a heartbeat.

I’m also planning on becoming a LEO in my senior year and I know now that I will learn about an organization that is dedicated to Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity! This experience was another wonderful opportunity to SERVE, LEARN, and MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Thank you to the Elmhurst Lions for letting me be part of this special experience. I’d sign up again in a heartbeat! 💙🐕

♻️ Making a Difference, One Load at a Time! 💚

On July 18th, the Naperville Noon Lions Club partnered with the City of Naperville and Dart Container Corporation for another successful Styrofoam Collection event.

Pictured a trailer with Styrofoam dropped off by community members. While unloading, Lion Rob Bremner also collected plastic film for our NexTrex recycling service project.

Thanks to this partnership, used Styrofoam is given a second life and transformed into products such as molding, containers, and many other useful items instead of ending up in a landfill.

A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers and residents who participated. Together, we're making our community cleaner and more sustainable! 🌎🦁♻️
