Elmhurst Walk-In Assistance Network

EWAN is here to provide a bridge to better times. Many years later, EWAN has grown.

Whether it's due to job loss, illness, divorce, or death in the family, Elmhurst Walk-in Assistance Network provides emergency assistance to individuals and families in times of crisis. In 1997, three women working in local churches saw a need to assist individuals and families who came to the churches' doors requesting help. They say the need to ensure that the churches' allocated funds for "walk

-in" assistance were being used to help those truly in need and to take some of the responsibility for making those decisions off of the ministers and church staff. It continues to be supported by 30 "covenant" churches, as well as local businesses, service organizations, and many generous individuals. After an intake process, EWAN is able to offer clients help with rent, utilities, car repair, some medical bills, as well as food and gas vouchers. We partner with the Immaculate Conception Church food pantry and the First United Methodist Church clothes closet to help clients with food and clothing needs.

We Help.

The Elmhurst Walk-In Assistance Network mission is to offer emergency assistance to Elmhurst residents who find themselves in a difficult situation.
- Rental/mortgage assistance
- Electric, gas or water bills
- Access to Immaculate Conception Food Pantry and referrals to Elmhurst Yorkfield Food Pantry
- Car repair
- Dental assistance through partnering dentists
- Prescription help (through Lombard Pharmacy)
Gasoline vouchers for assistance getting to work, a job interview, or doctor’s appointment
- Adult shoes (children’s shoes are available through school social workers and the Bethel Shoe Program)
- Financial “check ups” and budgeting assistance (first Monday & third Thursday of the month, at EWAN site)

🚴‍♀️ The Elmhurst Cycling Classic is TOMORROW, June 6! 🚴‍♂️

Elmhurst Walk-In Assistance Network is proud to support this exciting day of racing, community, and family fun in downtown Elmhurst. The course starts and finishes near Elmhurst University and Wilder Park, bringing the excitement right to the heart of our community. Spectators can enjoy the action throughout the day as cyclists race through the streets of Elmhurst.

Even if you're not racing, there's still plenty of time to join the fun! Come cheer on the riders, enjoy the festive atmosphere, and stop by the Phase Three Beer Garden at the Wilder Mansion Garden.

Need assistance? We're here for you Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

🌅🏃‍♀️ The Dan Gibbons Twilight Trot is TOMORROW! 🏃‍♂️🌅

Join us Saturday, May 30 at 6:30 PM in South Elmhurst for this family-friendly 5K fun run benefiting local nonprofits, including EWAN, United Community Concerns Association (UCCA), Immaculate Conception Food Pantry, and Elmhurst/Yorkfield Food Pantry.
