Divine Purpose Youth Performing Arts Center was founded in 2001 based on the vision and initiative of the husband and wife team of Daniel and Victoria Allen. Both Victoria and Daniel grew up on the West Side of Chicago and experienced firsthand the challenges and obstacles that surrounded the community. They were motivated to provide productive activities and a safe haven for at-risk youth facing

the pressures of drugs, violence, teenage pregnancies, and inadequate parental guidance. Focus group sessions with the youth in the community stressed that, while there were local organizations that provide sports activities, there were no organizations that allowed youth to find an outlet for their creativity in the areas of drama, singing, or dance.
